Patrick Gamble is not your average action hero. Is action generally takes place in a courtroom. But when he is called upon he puts on his hero cape and wades into danger with the best heroes! When his ex-wife is attacked, she reaches out to him - not his company - but him directly. She knows he'll do everything he can to keep her safe. Even after tragedy drove them apart, she knows Patrick is a safe haven, someone who will never turn on her. Billie is a legal bada&& but when you've got the Mafia/Cartels and other undesirables after you, even she has to admit that she needs help. Patrick steps out from the shadows and really shows off his hero status in this book. He handles a gun as well as he handles legal briefs, something that leaves Billie astounded. You understand pretty quickly that wasn't lack of love that drove them apart. The chemistry intensifies pretty quickly for these two, but then they've already had their courtship - they may have divorced but they really just hit pause! Great read and truly enjoying this entire series!
