The best book I’ve ever read…not an exaggeration. One that has stuck with me long since I read it the first time and have read it several times since. Do not miss out on the incredible lily delicately woven lessons this book has to teach everyone. A special read that touches a human nerve very difficult to press into. Amazing.

Favorite book ever!

I don't know much about South Africa. I just remember Steven Van Zandt's Sun City and Apartheid. This is a work of fiction loosely based on the author's life growing up in South Africa during and after WWII. Peekay draws strength and energy from the native Africans, his friend the Doc and various others who he meets along his life path. But most importantly he learns to rely on the power of one.

I read this book in school and it was truly a powerful book. Would highly recommend this book.

A long, long read, but excellent writing with palpable characters and a positive message. The book could have accomplished the same message in fewer pages, but since the writing was so good I stuck with 4 stars.
