An enormous thanks to the author for sending me a copy of the book as well as an audio version! All thoughts expressed in my review belong entirely to me.

It’s no secret that Medieval and Renaissance studies hold a very dear place in my heart as a literature scholar, teacher, and reader, so I’ve found myself yearning for another excursion into Bryce Gibby’s brilliant Arthurian retellings after finishing book 1 earlier this year!

Once again, we are met with a lush narrative that exudes all the things to love about ancient tales and legends, but with an extremely accessible writing style and a more contemporary, relatable take on the portrayal of these infamous characters in British history. 

With tragedy catalyzing the plotline from the start as well as end-capping the narrative with that sorrowful finale, this particular installment wholly captured my heart. I am super excited for the third installment and want to reiterate that each of these books on the Tetrology of Tales can indeed be read as standalone novels! Keep an eye out for my reviews for books 3 and 4 in the coming months!

This series is absolutely perfect for lovers of this fascinating hybrid genre of historical-fiction-meets-mythology-retellings, especially fans of epic Arthurian/Medieval Romance! I highly recommend the wonderful audiobook version.

Thank you so much to the author who graciously sent book 2 of his Tetralogy of Tales series.

Admittedly, I don't reach for this genre of book often, but Gibby has been the exception of that rule. In book one he captivated us with the beginning of the Arthurian legend, and although I greatly enjoyed it, I do believe book two was even better.

I said it once, but I think it needs to be mentioned again. The amount of research that had to go into this book is phenomenal. The world building and character arcs are some of my favorite I've seen in books like this. Arthur, of course, is a fun character in himself, the great king. However, Gibby makes him more than that. He makes him a person, a man in love, and it was the first time I felt as if I could relate to him as a character.

I am so forever grateful that I got to listen to the audiobook of this. It really took the entire series to a completely different level, for the reader was magnificent. I found myself unable to tune out because of the writing and audio reader being extremely addictive. I hope we hear more of this audio reader.

I would highly recommend this book to lovers of fantasy and Arthurian legends. This is definitely one you are going to want to snag.
