god I could not deal with this liberal bullshit of foreign “journalism”. Guy is overly Eurocentric in his world views and doesn’t delve into anything remotely interesting or accurate about the politics of Myanmar. he’a very much a tourist throughout the whole piece and treats Myanmar’s citizens as aliens. there’s no heart to this book and, even more annoying, the art is weak and his humor is a total dud. I would rather read a book about his wife’s experience of actually helping the people of Myanmar. Instead I’m forced into looking at stick figure drawings of her dumb ass husband as he comments on how hot a female monk looks while meditating. KILL ME

Funny and lighthearted, you also get a sense of the complications of living in Burma - and the quirks.

I did want more from this though. I wanted a little more depth, though perhaps that isn't fair considering the scope of the book.

Well drawn, well written, and a good intro to what it is like to be an expat in Burma.

As someone of Burmese heritage but who knows very little about the country, this was a wonderful travelogue to read!
