Burn Down the Night
Reviews

Looking for a scorcher that'll singe your eyebrows off? I finally bought Burn Down the Night by M. O'Keefe and holy smoke show. A con woman takes the bad boy leader of a motorcycle club hostage so she can find her sister. He's currently handcuffed in her Aunt Fern's FL condo and she's trying to convince him to help her and 😱🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 If you can, start with the duology that begins this series and where Joan is first introduced. I am VERY happy with my purchase. Leigh has listed CWs on her review which you can find here I loved Joan's character in the previous two books of this series (definitely give those a read if you haven't already), and we do get a few moments with Annie in this story too. Joan is complicated, prickly, and always ready to leave everything behind her with a scorched earth policy. Everything except her beloved sister who's she's been searching for. Kidnapping Max after he's shot at the strip club she is working at to find out more information, the same club she blows up to leave town and cover her tracks, is only a means to an end. To find Jennifer. But she's had major sparks with Max, but cannot trust him. Max himself cannot believe he's been taken by Joan, taken to a Florida retirement community, finding himself handcuffed to a bed and receiving medical care from Joan's estranged aunt and realizing he wants to solve the mystery of Joan. Find out what actually makes her happy, or if she's ever felt she's deserved happiness at all. As they figure out how to get Jennifer back, it appears they will both need to make major sacrifices, maybe even including their lives, but Joan isn't willing to risk anyone but herself. God this one punched me in the heart, loins, and brain. Utterly compelling, hot as all get out, and just so well written. Not even going to try and write a more coherent review. The author sure knows how to write a super hot story while also edging the reader along, and when Joan and Max finally get their hands on each other BOOM. Loved the scene where Joan brings home a grieving widow who is more than happy to have sex with her, in front of Max. Loved Max insisting Joan feel and be present before he'll have sex with her. I love Joan losing her cool when Max says he's making love to her. I just loved it all.

Before I start my review, I would like to thanks NetGalley and Random House Publishing-Loveswept for letting me review Burn Down the Night. **All opinions stated in this review are mine and mine alone. I received Burn Down the Night as an ARC from NetGalley through Random House Publishing-Loveswept for my honest and unbiased review** Now, onto my review: This book was a first for me. I had never read an MC book before, so I didn’t know what to expect. Well, I am happy to say, that this book turned me on to MC books. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in this series. I also liked that while this was the 3rd book in the series, you could read it as a stand alone book. If you have been following my reviews, then you know how much I hate read books 2-3 books into a series. The sexual element of this book was over the top, but in a good way. From the minute Joan first meets Max in the strip club, while working the pole, the sexual tension is through the roof. Joan is bisexual and she doesn’t exactly hide it from Max. That leads to a very interesting encounter when they are in Florida. And when Max and Joan finally bump uglies…holy crap. Talk about igniting the pages!!! The plot of this book was great too. Joan’s sister is involved with a drug cooking cult and Joan is looking to get her out. She figures that by doing something highly illegal, that she could get the leader alone and somehow get where he moved the camp too. But everything doesn’t go to plan and she ends up with Max after he was shot and beaten by his brothers. After that, it just takes off. I loved the ending. It fit in perfectly with the book. How many stars will I give Burn Down the Night? 5 Why? It had everything a romance novel needs and then some. You come to care deeply about Joan, Max and everyone else. Will I reccomend to family and friends? Yes Will I reread? Yes Age range: Adult Why? Erotic sex scenes that include woman on woman and mastrubation (men and women). Also graphic violence. Part of a series? Yes, book 3 of the Everything I Left Unsaid series.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life I really, really enjoyed the first two books in the Everything I Left Unsaid series, so I don’t know why I’m so shocked that I loved Burn Down the Night. I guess I just wasn’t expecting how gritty, intense, addicting, and freaking HOT this book would end up being. I loved the main characters – they’re a bit of anti-heroes, not good guys, but not as bad as they think they are either. The chemistry was seriously on fire between them, too. Can you tell how hooked I got onto Joan and Max’s story? I needed Max Daniels. Not for Lagan. Not for my sister. For me. I saved his life so he could save mine. If you’ve read the previous two books, then you know how Burn Down the Night starts – with Max unconscious and being kidnapped by Joan. Technically, Joan saves Max from being killed before she kidnaps him, but still, what a great start to a relationship, right? To say their romance is unconventional would be an understatement, to say the least. These two don’t particularly like each other, but they need each other – and they certainly want each other according to their bodies. Joan has Max handcuffed to a bed for the majority of the book, but that doesn’t stop them from getting up to some wicked things – and when I say wicked, I mean WICKED. My cheeks were nearly burning, that’s how hot this book was. If you like steam, you definitely need to experience Max and Joan’s. “Save your act for other people. The lies and the show—I don’t want it. I want you. Fucked up and crazy. I want you.” Joan and Max couldn’t be more ill-suited for one another – a con woman on the run, and a bad boy biker ex-leader? But somehow, they start to fall for one another in the time they spend together, and they grow to want more than just each others’ bodies. Their romance is a bit slow, but I felt it moved at the perfect pace for the two of them. This is one of those books with characters who show themselves in all their raw honesty, which I loved about Joan and Max. They are unapologetic about who they are, the take-them-or-leave-them sort of people. I don’t usually come across these kinds of characters, so they were refreshing and unique to read about. We’d burned down the night and our old lives with it. But we’d built something so much better in its place. Burn Down the Night was the perfect dark and gritty read to get me out of my slight book funk. I adored the main characters – they’re both so broken but still tough and tenacious. Survivors no matter what gets thrown their way. You definitely need to add this book to your TBRs if you like gritty and intense reads – once you’re hooked, you won’t want to put it down!
