Someone please make a movie based on this!

I have read a few books about the infamous Dracula, both vampiric and not (this one isn't about vampires), and this is without a doubt the most historically accurate. 

Vlad Dracula was an incredibly complex person. When his father, the Voivode of Wallachia was called to the Sultan to display his loyalty, Vlad, only eleven, with his younger brother Radu accompanied him. All three were quickly imprisoned. His father was eventually released, but poor Vlad and Radu were kept as hostages. This is where Vlad begins his journey, his kismet, to Christendom, the throne of Wallachia and vengeance. A journey that would ultimately turn him into a monster. 

C.C. Humphreys did an incredible job of bringing Vlad Dracula to life and the book was such a pleasure to read that I didn't want it to end.
