Funny, how many terrible things were done for the “greater good.” Carter sometimes wondered at what point the balance tipped. When did the greater good become the fortunate few— and screw everyone else?

Necessity might be the mother of invention, but it was also the father of fuck you.

When did we stop being people that others wanted to touch and hug and become these revolting husks? Or was that what we always were? Lumps of meat given life by a flick of the sorcerer’s wand. Perhaps death didn’t take anything away. Perhaps it merely restored us to our natural state. 

This was so beautiful, which is an odd thing to say about a thriller book. This author is one of my go to authors, especially for thriller and she has come so far. This was amazing. I have never gasped and reacted so much before. I was shocked, and i thought i had understood what was going on, i even explained my theories to my boyfriend. i sat here reading the book thinking i was so clever for catching on, no. I was very much far off it, and that’s so incredible. The plot and the story as a whole is a delightful mystery in itself. I can’t explain it without giving spoilers, but this is the best thriller book i have ever read. It was such an easy read too, i never once got bored and even though i did find some of the writing awkward, it just made the characters feel more real and didn’t even bother me as much.

However this book spoke of many things i didn’t like, and was very much fat phobic which i really disliked, but besides that the book was enjoyable.

As with all CJ’s books, I never saw these twists coming. Really did not want to put this down. The ending of almost every chapter being a cliffhanger was so frustrating but also genius. Love love love it!
