           didn't particularly enjoy this one, I don't like thrillers that have supernatural elements and the narration was quite dull

4.5- C.J. Tudor is awesome. I knew this when I finished "The Chalk Man". This wasn't on past with her first book but it was still spooky and disturbing. She's got to be the #1 horror writer out there.

Really love the narrator whose sense of humour is snarky and balances the darkness of the book. I had a smirk through a lot of scenes. The chilly atmosphere, the mix of the past and present, the mild twists all adds up to a great read. Although I have loads of questions I want answered, I'm happy I finally read it. 

I can't wait for more from her.

'I wake early the next morning. This is uncalled for'

I so excited to go into this book, since I loved Tudors first book. But this one just didn't do it for me. If I could I would give this one 2.5 stars, but since it wasn't a terrible book I rounded it up to a 3.

25 years go Joe's sister, Annie was 'taken' and then 'brought' back after 48 hours. No one knows where she was or what had happened to her, but when she returned she was never the same.
Now; Joe's life is a mess and has now returned to his small town he grew up in. Thats when Joe gets an email saying 'I know what happened to your sister and its happening again'

What I liked about this book was Joe's character, Joe is a bit of an oddball, he's a gambler and doesn't really care for other people. He can come across sarcastic and rude most of the time and thats what made his character seem so real.

What I didn't like about this was the title of this book 'The taking of Annie Thorne' doesn't really relate to the story at all because Annie was hardly mentioned in the book until towards the end.

If you have read a certain Stephen King novel then this book will seem familiar with that one, because it has very similar plot lines, which don't get me wrong I like Stephen King but when reading 'The Taking Of Annie Thorne' it just didn't seem all that original to me.
And the 'plot twists' i guess you can call them weren't at all surprising.

           I’ve had a bit of time to think on my feelings for this one, and I’m not even sure it warrants the whole 3 stars for me. 
I read this after picking up the Chalk Man and absolutely loving it. Even now, I still think that C.J Tudors writing style is one I greatly enjoy, I just didn’t like a lot about this one.
For one, the main character felt almost like a duplicate of the main character from the Chalk Man. An alcoholic teacher living in their childhood town despite all the bad things they wanted to get away from. I found the MC boring and his motives didn’t come across all that urgent to me. 
CJ Tudor is quoted to be like the new Stephen King, and that her work is often inspired by his, but to me this book felt like a Pet Sematary retelling that I didn’t ask for. It frustrated me how similar it felt, because going into it I’d had no idea that the storyline was similar. 
I definitely didn’t appreciate this novel like others, it was boring for me and I just didn’t mesh with the characters or plot, would definitely recommend the Chalk Man over this.
