I am normally very fond of the writings of C.S. Lewis, but although this book made some good and valid points, I don't feel that it would be necessary to read it in this manner. It is a completely unique and fascinating method of bringing up sins and such, but other methods have been just as, if not more successful in that. I simply felt that it wasn't necessary to "get into a devil's mind" in order to understand these things.

You know, I think I would have enjoyed this better as an audio book or in it's original setting better than I did as one book of all the letters and the proposal. At first, it wasn't too bad but, after a while, it got very repetitive because you would go from one topic of how to tempt a man to sin to the next topic on how to tempt a man to sin in almost the same ways. In a way, I think I needed more of a break between letters to make it stay fresh and interesting.

I will say, I enjoyed the concept. It makes me wonder how this writing may have influenced others writing about heaven and hell. Particularly it reminded me of Supernatural, a CW TV show, and Good Omens, a book I adore by Neil Gaiman. Both have very different and very hierarchical hells that this made me think of. As this obviously predates both of those things, I wonder if this book may have partially inspired the writing behind their respective underworlds.

All in all, I enjoyed this well enough, but I think I would have enjoyed it more were it a well voice-acted audio book. 3 stars seems fair to me.
