The story started off a bit slow but by half way things got better.

Typical guy/girl don't get along even when there is sexual tension between the pair.

Once the two went back to Georgia for a party the story picks up. Love how the two of them write a song together.

Just when they get close the bitchy stepmother comes along and causes trouble. Things are said, hearts are broken, everybody suffers.

I wish the ending was better. I'm tired of stories that leave you hanging. Series are becoming overdone.

I really am kicking myself for waiting so long to read this series. But, since I'm in the "all things country/small town/southern" mood right now, maybe the timing was just perfect. Regardless, I'm glad I decided to read it. It was emotional, and a good kind of angsty, and I love-love-loved the behind-the-scenes country music drama. 

I liked Kylie, even with the immaturity that sometimes drove me nuts. I appreciated her willingness to say what was on her mind and not pull any punches, even when it was to her detriment. I love a good, sassy heroine. Kylie was passionate about her music and making a name for herself, but she didn't want to compromise herself in the process. She's "discovered" and gets her chance to go on tour with a legitimate country star, but it's nothing like what she thought it would be. Why? Well, Trace Corbin is a mess. He's an alcoholic. He's a jerk, more often than not. He's unreliable. But, he's sexy as sin and there's an undeniable spark between Kylie and Trace.

You won't find insta-love here. Instead you get oodles of sexual tension and that slow burn that feels so, so good. They're both battling demons from their past and it definitely takes its toll on the thing building between them. I loved them together – through the good and bad times – and found myself squarely in their corner, hoping they could work things out. It was real and raw and when I finished this book, I couldn't wait to jump into the second one, Girl on Tour.
