Oh. My. God. This book was everything I needed and SO much more! I've been dying to know more about their relationship since Riot House and Callie Hart gave us ALL OF THE FEELS. This book is filled with love, angst, mystery, and sadness. I don't even know where to start but here I go: First of all, we've only seen one side of Carina and Dashiell in the first book but in this second one we get to know every little secret and we can read about their growing up. I have a soft spot for British boys (don't we all?) and I knew Dashiell Lovett III was going to ruin me just like he ruined Carina, guess what? I was damn right. “You’re the Goddess of the moon. Diana. Selene. Artemis. Luna. My pale and ethereal queen.” I mean??? THEY ARE PERFECT. The sun god and the moon goddess... From the second he sees her for the first time, with his dick bleeding on his hand, and naked in the hospital corridor Dashiell knew there was no going back. He really saw Carina Mendonza and tried to stay the hell away, afraid of what he or his friends could do. He pushed her but Carina Mendonza is a fighter, she was not giving up that easy until finally, she breaks through. Dashiell spills his secrets, feelings, and let his mask fell. From that moment on, their love grows in so many ways that I felt sad reading the happiest parts because I knew it was going to come crashing down at some point. “She is all I can see.” They are my favorite couple, that's all. Secret romance, push and pull, fierce heroine, longing stares, clandestine meetings, sad backstory, break up, almost dying in the backseat of your lover's car????? CMON THIS COULD NOT BE ANY BETTER. Now, secondly, the side characters: Mara. We finally got the full story! So sad though... Also, Dr. Fitzpatrick craziness bread crumbs and Elodie through Carina’s eyes? Awesome!!! But Presley and Pax, Gosh... I need their book ASAP. The bad boy falling for the sweet shy girl who writes fanfics???? That's the recipe for success. A highlight for the scene where Dash is sad that he and Carrie broke up and he realizes that Pax has not left his side. At all. He even changed his seat. Own. My beautiful and cute bad boy, I can not wait for your story.

First I like Dash & I like Carrie and I like them both together, but all that being said in some ways a percentage of this book felt like a waste of time. Did we get new information and a real look at what happened behind the scenes in their relationship prior to where Riot House starts? Yes Did this book feel like something entirely new and had me antisipating the direction it was heading? No Here's the big problem and this might just be my own wants for the direction I wanted to see their story go, but I was waiting for a time jump that never came. I really badly wanted something that would expand further and give me something new to get excited over. This was almost a retelling and a closer look into a story we already knew most of but just filled in some of the blanks. Getting Dash and Carrie POV was great but I just was hoping for more story that we are never given, and after all that their ending was fairly rushed and not rewarding after going through this journey with them. I could even rate this a 2 star based on my disappointment alone, but I did enjoy finally getting their backstories and revisiting a more in depth look at what happened in the past. It wasn't exactly a boring read but just lacking overall. I had different expectations going in, which was probably my problem and why I was so let down. The dark vibes and mystery that book1 had was nearly gone so that also took away the original intrigue and atmospheric vibes I loved so much too.

I am obsessed with how easy it is to fall into her sassy, teenaged world.... It's pretty interesting how being born into wealth doesn't erase certain deep rooted issues Most of all I'm happy dash had the courage to accept the things he truly loved in the end... I'm happy Carrie found peace too Thoroughly entertaining

“If the girls here are foolish enough to call me Sun God, then you are the goddess of the moon. Diana. Selene. Artemis. Luna. My pale and ethereal queen.” He smirks softly, acknowledging my eye roll but not giving into it. “Y’know, for centuries, they used to think the moon sent men mad. Like the phases of the moon affected the persons sanity. Lunatic. That’s where the word came from. I can see how they came to that conclusion Carrie. You drive me crazy. I need you so fucking bad.” Carrie has secrets. Secrets that will haunt you and will carry you to the grave. She’s hiding, and she is still running; running from a past whilst being protected from someone more powerful than even what the Riot House Boys have wielded before. Dashiell is tired. He is itching to live. He’s constantly yielding to his title and to what is expected of him that he is no longer himself. He’s just a shell of himself- no longer standing up for who he is. Or what he wants in his life. “Riot Rules,” by Callie Hart is Book Two in the Crooked Sinners Series. Although it is stated that it can be read as a standalone - I would have found it difficult to read by itself as it started off as a prequel to book one, and a large chunk of the story almost a year before Riot House begins. It digs deeper into the series of events surrounding Riot House - their rules - their reputations and how it came to be. That surrounded with the emotional charged connection that Carrie and Dash had from the first moment Dash locked eyes with Carrie’s. He was hot and she was cold. She was the moon and he was the sun. His light to her darkness. Her secrets to his lies of omission. A girl from the wrong side of the tracks, with royalty. In the end, they were the ultimate opposites attract. I am anxious to see what happens next! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

It was okay. I got bored a little, but the ending was good.

Highlights

Pax and I look down at our beers and then look at each other. “Beating the shit out of that dude is gonna be really difficult,” Pax says, cracking open his beer. “Like, he is a dog trapped in a man’s body.”
“I know,” I say morosely. “I was thinking the exact same thing.”

“It’s okay, Stella. We’ll be a permanent eclipse. That way, we’ll always be together.”
“That way, the world will always be in darkness,” I argue.
He shrugs, flicking my lip with the tip of his tongue. “Who gives a flying fuck about the rest of the world. I only care about you and me.”

“If the girls here are foolish enough to call me Sun God, then you are the goddess of the moon. Diana. Selene. Artemis. Luna. My pale and ethereal queen.”

“Stop trying to save me, for fuck’s sake. Just… I want you to be real with me. That’s all I’ve wanted from the beginning. Everything’s a front with you. An argument. A game. A lie. I’m so sick of it. I just want the truth. I just want…I just want you.”
