3.5 stars. Second half was way better and finally got exciting. I’ll be reading to 2nd book because I need answers.

Could not get into this novel of revenge porn. I really like the author’s police mysteries, so it is not her writing at fault. Perhaps I’ve seen/heard/read scorned wife thrillers like this for so many years that I’m tired of the trope. Others seeking escapism may still enjoy it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this after I saw some pretty scathing low reviews. It’s hard to feel sympathy for the main character but at the same time it’s hard to not want her to succeed after everything. 
I could see most of the ‘twists’ coming, and nothing surprised me in this book. But this was more about the story than the thrilling aspects and I really enjoyed it.

This was a really interesting thriller and was unique in its material. Faye was a compelling protagonist and her characterization was excellent. I found myself turning the pages constantly in the night, unable to put this down!

Part of me wished we got more of Faye's backstory throughout the book. I also found it a bit jarring switching from first person to third person in different sections. It was hard to get back into the third person narrative once the first person narrative was completed.

I know that some reviewers have commented on the explicit sex scenes/references in the book. I didn't mind it. I think it is important to highlight sexuality as a spectrum. I liked how female desire was portrayed in this book. I think it was real and authentic.

This is a great summertime suspense novel. I think it tackled serious themes well and still entertained me at the same time.
