Watching Edie

This book was not what I was expecting. Watching Edie is a fast paced, well written book that drags you in from the start. 



This book is written from two different perspectives Edie’s and Heather’s. The present is shown from Edie’s POV, where she has just become a new mum and Heather unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep. The past is shown from Heather’s POv, back when the girls were 16 and Edie had just come to town.

The whole book leads back to one night when the girls were 16. It is hinted that something terrible happened that made Edie flee to London. I spent the whole book attempting to guess what the horrific event was, I was completely wrong. 



I loved this book, the twist unexpected and took me entirely by surprise. The one thing I did not like was after the girls story comes out how the other characters judge and treat her. Yes what happened was disturbing and horrible, but when you are 16 you don’t always make the best decisions.

Edie was the girl in high school who had it all. Heather was the awkward girl who wanted so badly to be accepted. That was high school and now Edie is a single mom caught in a dead end job. She is about to lose it when Heather comes to her rescue. While Edie loves being able to get her life back, the hold that Heather has on her and the baby is disconcerting.

I quite enjoyed this book. While it wasn't exactly what I expected, it kept me engaged, and wanting to read more. I really enjoyed the dueling timelines and how the story slowly unfolded. 

A great read if you like thrillers with a few twists and turns!
