I have to say that Rachel Van Dyken is one of my favorite authors. She does an amazing job of bringing characters to life and really bringing her books to another level emotionally. This being said I loved Captured. Captured is about a girl who doesn’t speak. After too much pain and loss, Dani shuts down and her voice goes away. Already living an unusual life as her sister is marrying into the rich and fame and she’s best friends with a popular boy band, it seems it can’t get any weirder. Then enters Lincoln. Who if he looks like the pics below, he is super hot and drool worthy. Lincoln needs a personal assistant and Dani is volunteered for the job to get her out of her funk. Little do Lincoln and Dani know, they are one of those perfectly imperfect couples who learn to heal with each other. This really changes Dani’s world in some big ways (that I can’t mention without spoiling the book ;). I thought the plot line for this book was really cute sounding and I liked the idea of having a main character who couldn’t talk. It just seemed really interesting and I really liked learning some of the reasons behind her muteness. Rachel did a great job of making Dani seem just like any other girl but with high-level friends and a mouth that didn’t talk. It was pretty easy to connect with her story and get really interested in what was going to happen next. There were a few moments that I expected and then quite a few that I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed the characters of this book and how there were glimpses of previous main characters too. I found Dani to be super chill and I loved how she didn’t freak out about the whole celebrity thing or tries to maneuver her way into Lincoln’s good graces. Everything that happened wasn’t some con to date a celebrity, it was simply two people falling in love and having to work through their pasts. I do have to say that my favorite character wasn’t Dani or Lincoln, it was a whole other character introduced into this book. I absolutely adored him and I can’t wait to hear his story. The Saint will definitely steal your heart! My fingers are crossed that the next book is about him! Overall this book was pretty amazing. The characters were great and I loved how light and fun this read was. Yet it wasn’t too much where the sugary sweetness of the book overwhelmed me, instead it was balanced by some of the drama and some of the darker side of their lives.
