It broke my heart more than just a little. I had to keep reading though. I needed to know what would happen. While I enjoyed seeing Kaitlyn really come into her own during this book, there were some kick in the stomach moments, too. It was probably the toughest of the three to read, but I just had to keep hoping Penny wouldn't disappoint me when it was all said and done. (She totally didn't.) I loved Kaitlyn and her quirks. I wanted her to find happiness, no matter whether it was with Martin or not. (But, you know, I really wanted to see her happy WITH him. I just wasn't sure they would get back there so I had to think about embracing alternative endings.) I was proud of her for finally taking control of her life. She grew tremendously over the course of these three novellas and it made my heart happy. It was a little tough to watch Kaitlyn and Martin attempt to build a friendship, because I wanted to see them together so badly. Yet, at the same time, I enjoyed the scenes with them exploring their new friendship. There was so much potential between them. I wanted to see them more fully explore it – take what they'd learned separately and apply it to their relationship. But could they? Only time would tell. This entire series was a breath of fresh air. It's been a long time since I found myself literally laughing out loud during a book. Kaitlyn, Martin and the side characters felt real. And I totally connected with all of them. If they were real, we'd be friends. I hated giving them up when the series ended, but I loved seeing how it all wrapped up. I'll absolutely reread this series. But first I have to devour the remainder of Penny's backlist.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life 4.5 STARS Oh my god. I'm so freaking in love with this series, and I'm incredibly sad that this is Martin and Katy's last book. But what a fantastic ending to a series I absolutely adore! I'm going to miss Kaitlyn and Martin – these are two characters who have completely stolen my heart, and I never want it back. Penny Reid is a goddess for creating these two wonderful, amazing characters. I never wanted their story to end, but the way it did... I couldn't have imagine it better! For those who haven't read the series yet, I want to include as little spoilers as possible. So Capture... it starts off nine months after that god-awful cliffhanger from Heat. Things are completely different for Katy and Martin and their relationship. They both have been moving forward in their professional lives, but regarding their relationship? There's still work to be done. I love Katy. And Martin. And Katy and Martin together. They are honestly perfect in their flawed, intelligent, humorous ways. They're the kind of characters who I want to hug and smoosh to my chest and never let go, because they are just so real in that honest, intelligent way. “Thank you, Martin. Thank you for finding me in that chemistry closet and seeing me in the first place. Thank you for helping me see myself.” Katy is a heroine a adored – she may have been frustrating at times, but it was with good reason. I loved being in her head and I loved her quirkiness and awkwardness. And Martin. Holy mackeral, this boy, this man. He's certainly grown up in Capture – he's now so much more mature and less quick to reach his temper. But of course, he's still sexy as hell. The things he says and does make my heart swoon and pound. I'm so in love with him! He's been a book boyfriend of mine since he first appeared in Attraction “I don't want a beautiful week with you. I want a beautiful lifetime.” Basically, I loved this book. A few frustrations, some miscommunications aside, this book was perfect. Buuut I can't give this a full 5 heart rating because I just wasn't as completely OBSESSED with this final book as much as I was with the first book. Still, don't let that deter you from reading this book, or this series. Penny Reid has written a phenomenal series. I absolutely adore her writing and can't wait to read her other books. If you haven't read the Elements of Chemistry series, I recommend you start it ASAP! It seriously is one of the best written series I've ever read. It's certainly become one of my favorite series of all time! Maybe love, at its essence, is being a mirror for another person–for the good parts and the bad. Perhaps love is simply finding that one person who sees you clearly, cares for you deeply, challenges you and supports you, and subsequently helps you see and be your true self. Love, I decided, is being a sidekick. Quotes are taken from the ARC and are subject to change in the final version. Thanks to the author for generously providing me an ARC to review.
