I am such a hero for finishing this, you guys. And thank god that this book is the size it is primarily because Broadbent cannot keep her fingers away from the 'Enter' key, because she seems to think each of her sentences need emphasis. Or maybe her characters can't sustain a train of thought longer than six words - or both.

(And I know I wasn't even skim-reading because I caught typos and misformatting. I am really proud here, hello?)

Listen, I understand that this may be somebody's trash (not mine) or somebody's favourite book / series (not mine) but it is just not a good book. It tries to introduce stakes but it destroyed them by essentially eliminating any permanent consequences for failure or success (death, godhood, etc.) and by not being able to get a grasp of the politics of its own world-building.

No beach break can make me read another one of those.
