This book gutted me emotionally. The story line and everything about it kept me wrapped up in the story from start to finish. I loved this book.

I received this book from @literaryrogues for Christmas and I wish I had read it sooner. It was a great recommendation, so do yourself a favor and just read it already! When I finished this book I didn’t know how to feel. The beginning had a slow start for me (but I think that was just my life at the time and not the story), but a few days ago I hit the halfway point and just didn’t want to stop. The story took off and just didn’t stop! The romance is slowwwww burn, but when it finally revved up and the scenes we got were very yummy and definitely worth the wait. I liked the FMC, but a delicious vampire with wings and a big squishy heart… he definitely stole the show for me. I loved their dynamic together, how they worked together, their banter, their trust. The to-the-death competition felt like the grittier version of Throne of Glass. It was very complex having to do with the history of the goddess and that was creative to me. The ending is full of gasps and unexpected twists and turns and it’s a lot of information, but in the best way. My only frustration was the world building. It wasn’t bad, but the names and places and history was hard to keep up with for me. The names gave me a headache, but that’s not a dealbreaker and a bit expected for fantasy books.

Oh my god. Oh my god. Ohhhhh my GODDDDD!!!!! Everything I could have wanted and then some. High Fantasy + Vampires + Hunger Games vibes… yes please! Was not expecting the plot twist, loved the little bit of spice (and man was it SPICY) orrrr the heartbreak, BADASS female main character with daddy issues, fuck around and find out + touch her and die, slow burn, enemies>to allies>to lovers, forced proximity… it was just so much in the perfect way. I don’t want to say too much more bc I feel like you just need to read the book for yourself and fall in love with the characters and story! If you loved Twilight, ACOTAR, Hunger Games you will love this! Excited for the next book!
