4.25/5⭐️ • 3.5/5🌶️
This is by far the best book in this series. I finally started experiencing a good mix of romance and fantasy that I felt like was lacking in the series. But I felt like it still came from a characters that was technically a side charcter. I also felt like this side character had the best cliffhanger out of this particular series. I also can understand why the last book had the charcter it ended with but he does still low-key annoy me. Like he tries to be funny but I haven’t enjoyed it personally. But I do think this book was the best one from the series and actually felt excited to read the final book after finishing this one when I was feeling a small amount of dread after the first three.

4.5 ⭐️ I just loved Gabriel and Ryder’s friendship 🫶🏻 I’m honestly not that interested in the plot which is disappointing but I do love all the character dynamics and that Christmas house scenes were so domestic and perfect I love them! Also I’m so excited to read Rosalie’s books she reminded me of Tory when she made that vow to get him out of the prison and that torture scene hurt 😭😭

cliffhanger These cliffhangers are straight disrespectful!!!!!!!! My fav character has been Ryder, but yet i crave to learn Faetalian, sleep on the roof, and steal everything that shines!!!!!

This is my first reverse harem series and honestly 4 books in and I still just don’t get it. As much as it’s rammed down our throats that Elise “loves them all equally”, I’m simply not convinced. I was already annoyed with the Elysian mate bond at the end of book 3 but this book made it worse. Especially when it seems so inconsistent with the effect such a fate is having in the Zodiac Academy series (only read up to book 5 of that series at this point). The concept of soulmates and ONE true love has no business in a reverse harem series. Like don’t tell me there’s this all consuming bond just to be like actually that doesn’t work for this book because we want her to have a five way so we’re just going to ignore every aspect of that concept, except the silver rings in their eyes. Instead let’s just use it as a plot device for creating ‘tension’ that we’re going to resolve through lots of angsty sex. I hate it. And you know what while we’re at it let’s tell everyone that vampires, basilisks, harpys and dragons are all solitary and possessive and then, wait for it… have them regularly participate in group sex. Also the Lion who should want to have multiple female partners and be waited on hand and foot is instead going to be submissive. Like not one character in this book is consistent with how their order is described. Every time we are told something we are presented with a contradiction a few pages later. It just undermines everything. Also just on reverse harems I don’t think I’ll ever be on board with this because MFM does not work for me let alone adding more Ms. And I also just hate the power imbalance of a harem dynamic in general like I can see other people but you can’t. So I’m just ignoring all that and thinking about the couples in isolation. Leon and Elise the contradictions of their behaviours compared to their orders makes me not buy into this relationship at all. I still cannot accept they are Elysian mates. Nothing about Elise or Leon make me think they would be a good match. Dante and Elise. He speaks Italian and electrocutes her… I think it’s meant to be sexy, it isn’t. No chemistry here at all. Ryder and Elise. I love Ryder. Honestly in all these couples I’m just assessing the men because Elise is boring to me. I don’t care about her. His character development on the other hand is really good and I loved every bit of him in this book. He finally got to get his revenge but truthfully it felt rushed like we spend so much time focused on Dante’s family when all I want is Ryder. Gabriel and Elise. Love Gabriel but this entire relationship is built on nothing but his Sight. He’s a plot device. Which is disappointing because I think these two probably match the most. Now on to the plot of Gareth’s “death” which again is an after thought for the 4th book in a row. Honestly at this point if he does turn up alive it will fit with the joke that is every other plot in this book. So why am I still reading these books? The BROMANCE. I am living for Gabriel and Ryder’s friendship. The scene of them getting drunk and the Scorpio tattoo was perfect! If y’all ever use Gabriel’s sight to make me think Ryder is dead again I’m suing. And Leon is hilarious with all of them. The entire cabin bonding session was great. Gabriel, Ryder and Leon all are funny and bounce off each other. Dante is a wet blanket. Although Dante and Ryder have predictably broken their astral adversary bond so that’s something I guess. Also the use of magic in this book is exceptional, very visual.

This book had me seriously fucked up!! Can our tribe catch a damn break? Like omg it’s one thing after the other I can’t take it anymore. That Christmas scene with all the boys though? Bawhahahaha HILARIOUS I was cackling. I predicted a few things in this book but still a little lost but honestly I can’t wait for it to be over.

Highlights

"It would be easier to give up breathing than you, Ryder."
Elise to Ryder

"It can all stop if you just put your power in me, Rydikins," I encouraged. "Just put it in. Just the tip."
He snorted a laugh before he could stop himself then tried to cover it with a furious hiss.
... (p.114-116)
"If you were just honest with me, you might find you like getting a little vulnerable, then your magic barriers will come down and I'll slip right inside you."
"Can you stop talking about it like you're about to fuck me in the ass, because it's making this impossible. Let me do the pushing, I'm not a taker in any sense."
Leon about Ryder (made me giggle)
