This was a quick read and was one I was ready to get done in the reading order to get back into the zodiac academy world. It gave details into Darius and Orion’s past that explains the importance to the ending of the third book. When you read it you knew what would happen but the details sees a bridge of emotion and importance it will play. And man did it play a part into the series.

This was a nice quick novella to give some background to Orion and Darius’ friendship and families before zodiac academy

I read this after book 4 which I think was a great idea because I had just come from the storyline of Clara

I absolutely hate Lionel and really hope he gets his karma at the end of this plot

Seeing Orion being free and happy in the beginning made me so sad💀 Reading that after the ending of book 5 was absolutely brutal!

And seeing Clara like that actually made me sad for her even tho I'm still not convinced she shouldn't die. Orion was right with his thoughts of her being manipulated. That bond was seriously fucked up long before she gave herself to the shadows. She seemed so sad.

A lot of people say that this book should be read a bit after getting into the series, but I strongly disagree. This prequel for the story allows for a deeper understanding of Darius and Orion's situation. Since these two characters are often seen together, knowing their background makes the series for a better read. It explains their dynamic to a T and allows for the sly comment's that Orion makes within the series to Darius make complete sense. Probably one of the best dynamics in the series.

Also, just reading more about Orion never gets old.

I just started this series, so I'm wondering if I did read these in order of release date vs order of happening, if it would've caused me to have more "no way!" moments - because I could totally see that being the case.

In the same vein, it does have me wondering what I'm getting myself into, so I'm interested in getting started. Certainly seems like it's going to be an interesting ride!

OMG!!! knowing what happened to Darius and Orion and the boys..ahhh i just want to wrap them all up in blanky a give them big cuddles.

I read this after I read the first two books. It didn't really keep my interest like I was hoping. But it was nice getting back story on Darius, Orion, Clara and Lionel. Knowing what I know now helps with the bigger picture of the story line and why Darius and Orion are the way they are.
