This is probably one of my favorite books of Cathy's 

The writing style felt like a distant childhood memory which I loved. 

Getting to know Alice is probably the closest I've been to timetraveling through a book. Going back to a past version of myself 

It's not often I really feel for the characters, but when I read Alice's story, the broken friendships, the hope you have when you're an 11 year old girl just wanting to be accepted and noticed, the heartbreak of being let down, betrayed and feeling like a nobody 

At some point Alice's pain started to feel a little like my own, the pain that belonged to a different me 

Alice reminded me of my own childhood, a version of me that believed in happily ever afters and saw the best in people. 

I always thought I never cared when I had gotten hurt in the past, but being in Alice's pov made me realize that maybe I did care, I just tried not to, convinced myself I couldn't feel pain, turning thought into reality 

Towards the end Alice is getting better and gets to experience what a true friendship is, but while Alice has regained her wings, Laney is starting to lose hers. Despite all the torment Laney put her through, Alice still chooses to reach out a hand to her despite their past. 

Even though Laney made me pretty mad throughout the book I can still somehow sympathize with her. In another universe I might have even understood her had I been in her pov, that's a scary thought but also an interesting one 

I also loved the friendship between Alice and Sadie 

The way Cathy switched between the present tense and the dreamy wonderland was done very smoothly and I could see the red line throughout the whole story. 

I loved the dreamy wonderland and the way the author used the regular wonderland characters as a symbol for the real life ones in Alice's reality 

I loved every second of this book, there was not a moment of dullness in it. It was sad, haunting at times and also strangely comforting. Thank you for writing this book Cathy ♡ 

The only reason I didn't give it a total 5 star is because the ending switched very fast from Alice never waking up to her suddenly having friends and living a life of her dreams. However nothing is really unrealistic, anything can happen. We never know what's around the next corner and maybe that's exactly what Cathy was trying to show us, things can always change even when it seems hopeless
