Enid
Bereaved by the death of their parents, five sisters live in a seaside villa--growing up together, sharing their grief, experiences, and love. Oldest daughter Charlie struggles to care for her sisters in the wake of the accident that took their parents, while each of the younger sisters narrates a volume of the series. Each girl has her own personality and point of view, and reflects some aspect of ourselves back to us: Enid, age 9, is outgoing, with a great sense of humor; Hortense, age 11, is shy and likes to be alone; Bettina, age 14, is good-hearted but temperamental; Genevieve, age 16, is passionate about cooking and boxing. This, the first volume, is narrated by the youngest sister Enid. A free spirit, she enjoys wandering alone and talking to animals and anything she meets. Her best friend Gulliver is, like her, offbeat and creative. When Enid begins hearing ghost-like screams, the two friends embark on a scary adventure. These sisters are not perfect and they may not always get along, but in times of need, they can always count on one another. Nominated for the Children's Graphic Novel award at the Angoulme International Comics Festival.
