The good die young and the annoying go on forever. 

I love the premise of this story and once you get to the end, it all makes sense and it's perfect but the thing is the journey there is exhausting, repetitive, irritating, and not engaging enough! 

It took me forever to finish this monster of a book because I simply despised one of the main characters and because of that, every action the character made led to more irritating plot points that then further annoyed me, leading me to not want to keep reading. 

It's just not enough to write a book that starts great, goes on for a long and exhaustive while and then ends great. 

But the concept is so poignant, and it tries really hard to show rather than explain the concept of choice versus destiny that I still think this book is worth reading. It is meticulously planned with each detail leading to meaningful events later and that's very impressive. 

...I just hate how it ended though! And I didn't love the main character. And the middle was very repetitive. But I can still appreciate the effort and thought put into it. I do love the concept. And I really liked the other main character. And the middle part was cleverly designed, even if it was frustrating.

Beautifully heartbreaking with a definite unexpected ending. Unsure at the moment if I loved or hated it or both, but that was kind of the pace and feeling of this book for me throughout. Either way, this book will always remain close to me for reasons more profound than just ink on paper.

I enjoyed the beginning 1/3 of the book, it had a Cloud Atlas feel to it. In an anthology way, explores what love means between two people across different lifetimes.  At the 2/3 point it shifts tone to a darker feel. By the end it just turned to be a more romanticized version of

This book takes two main characters with different perspectives on fate, meaning of life, and sense of self and has them living out different lives and different relationships with each other to show just how much people affect each other and whether or not there is a constant within each person that guides their being and their choices. 

The characters were solidly written but for me Santi seemed a bit less stable or solid as a character, which i don't mind given the premise of the book. I think I kind of like it that way. 

As for the ending and how things wrapped up and affected my thoughts on the book.... I think it fit well but didn't feel like enough. It just wasn't as impactful as all the lead up to it. Just didn't invoke enough emotion or thought. 

I absolutely love reincarnation / transmigration books so this was overall a nice read with a great concept.

I probably should give this a four-star review, but I'm apparently going soft. The end of this gorgeously written book really surprised me (in a good way). The author's writing style is nothing short of brilliant and some of the passages bear reading twice. (They're that good!) 
The narrative structure of the story bears some repetition and I'll confess I could have been content with at least two fewer "lifetimes" to speed things along. But fans of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue should enjoy this- along with anyone privately wondering what life would be like if he or she could choose a different life path.

I read about a hundred pages of this and just hated that each chapter was a different life for the main characters. None of it felt like on story or that it linked. 
Personally I just wasn't enjoying the book and ended up getting a refund for it in the end.

This book surprised me in all the right ways. I have no idea what I expected coming into it, but it blew any expectations I had out of the water. Silvey creates such an immersive story that leaves you turning the pages quickly, begging to know what happens to these characters next. As the book progressed I felt like the two main characters slowly becoming aware of what was happening. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for this debut author and her future works.

           Fuck me dead what a novel. This is like if Matt Haig, Erin Morgenstern and Madoko Shinkai put all their brilliance, and this emerged. Massive credit obviously to Catriona Silvey for such an astonishing piece of fiction. I had no idea where this was going to go, and the ending completely blindsided me. Jesus. This has easily slipped into my top 10 for the year. I wish I could forget about this and read it again.
