Legacy is the first book written by Cayla Kluver. She was just 14 years old when she finished the first draft about it. Legacy was chosen to head the Amazon Encore project. The book was published last year as the first one in a trilogy.

	Alera is Hytanica’s princess. She is seventeen and with no brothers, she will have to get married to be able to govern. Steldor seems to be the perfect candidate; everyone, including the king, thinks so. However, Alera thinks he is a total blockhead, she cannot stand being around him. 
Hytanica had been in war with Cokyria not so long ago; also, the war had been surrounded by thrilling mysteries. London, Alera’s personal bodyguard is one of those mysteries. Other mystery involves a kidnapped kid, kept by Cokyrians until now. This mystery boy, Narian, might turn Hytanica, as well as Alera, upside down.

	Legacy was an interesting enjoyable read. The book takes place on an “alternative” world, in what we could call middle age. The plot develops slowly as the strong and curious Alera is able to discover and solve some mysteries. I liked the fact that it wasn’t a romance-based book, for a change. Therefore it might be a good book for boys as well. I was caught by surprise with the ending. Moreover, some maps added at the beginning and end of the book completed the book. Those maps helped me going through the complexity of the story, plus the elaborate world building. 
Nevertheless, I found the book a bit too descriptive. Also, the world wasn’t really that original. In addition to that, it mixed some contemporary concepts with a medieval background. Hence, the result was pretty odd. Moreover, some characters are sometimes left behind, like Alera’s sister. She just came to scene when it was necessary. Furthermore, I hate Steldor.

	Summing up, Legacy was a good book. It was a bit out of my comfort zone; anyhow I ended up liking it. I definitely recommend it if you like medieval fantasy mixed with plotting, all together with a hint of romance.
