Lieutenant Hornblower

1800: William Bush boards the H.M.S. RENOWN as third lieutenant. As they set off to the West Indies, he strikes up an acquaintance with Horatio Hornblower - no longer the nervous midshipman of yesteryear, but an intelligent and quietly capable fifth lieutenant. The RENOWN, however, is a tense, oppressive ship under the insane Captain Sawyer, whose paranoia and irrational behaviour undermine discipline, and threaten to destabilise the whole unhappy crew. And what are Bush, Hornblower, and their fellow officers to do, when even daring to whisper of Sawyer's unfitness for command could have them all hanged for conspiracy to commit mutiny?
