More Vallejo-as-Leninist. I actually liked this one better than 'Autopsy of Surrealism', but I'm not sure why. They blend together. The best part of this one is that it's written almost in the style of aphorisms. My favorite line is something about how in Soviet villages the lies of the priest and whistle of the policeman have been replaced by the sound of tractor engines!!! (That's a paraphrase.) Tractors play a unique role in Soviet ideology/iconography. I'm sure someone out there has written an entertaining book on the subject.
