Change of Heart

Change of Heart

They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most? Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget. Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani. For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can't stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . . .

This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews. Ani and Bram have never seen eye to eye. They are always being snarky at each other just to get a rise of one another. They had never even considered the possibility of something more between them. One night, Ani follows Bram, wondering where he's going. She's surprised by what she finds and by the end of the night, they are making out and having one moment of passion. A lot of situations happen between Ani and Bram, and they may just not make it. Bram was a total asshole. And I meant that in the nicest possible way. I thought Unbreak My Heart was a great book and I wasn't sure how Change of Heart would be better. It completely blew me away! I definitely didn't think Change of Heart would top the first book, but it completely did! Ani's and Bram's story was bitter-sweet, to say the least. They would bicker so much, but it just added to the tension between them. The romantic scenes were just as amazing. The romance was freaking hot and sweet and I just cannot even! Bram's caring nature was what I loved most of this book. He would argue so much with Ani, but when it came down to it, he was so loving and would always worry about her. His caring nature is shown even more when something unexpected happens in their lives that I can't discuss or I would spoil a lot of the story. I will say it was the most delightful part of the story. Ani is so strong, loyal to her foster family, grounded, and with so much love to give. She received news she didn't want to hear that completely broke her, but she managed it with maturity that only a strong woman can. I felt so much for Ani through the entire book. Everything that would happen to her, I would feel so deep in my soul. She took all of it in stride, though and I was in awe of her strength. I loved the family dynamic in this story so much. I've never read a book that involves a family as tight as this one. They would have family dinners every Friday! The thing is, they are all grown ups (over 28 years old), yet they would still go to their parents house every Friday to be with the whole family. No matter where they were, if something happened, they would all drop whatever they were doing to rush back home. Change of Heart is the most glorious, heart-wrenching, beautiful book I've read all year. I'm in love. This will be a re-read for sure. I absolutely loved this book! It's easily one of my top 5 faves of 2016. I received an eARC and ARC from the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews.
