This is the first book I read in the book series but there was a reason why I started with book 4 instead of book 1 it is because I watched all seasons of the show and my favorite one is when Eric loses his memories so I wanted to see how they wrote this and these scenes in book form I was not disappointed in the least book it was an actual good book that I really liked and hope other people will like it to

I enjoy Harris' creatures, and the storyline is fun once it gets going; however, half the book is recapping the books prior, and that tends to bore me in this series. Fun characters, I wish Sookie would drop the "holier-than-thou" bs though! Of course, I'll read on to see what happens in between the recaps...

This was a re-read for me. 4 stars overall. I enjoyed this book nearly as much as I did the first read through but it did make me realize how much the television show has changed the plotlines from the original story. Without writing too many spoilers, this book focuses on Jason's disappearance, the discovery of the Hotshot community, Eric with no memory, and evil witches. Not one of my favorites in the series, I felt there were far too many plot points to keep track of and they weren't developed very well. I enjoyed the bit about Eric, it was amusing seeing him with no memory and his lack of memory after the fact. I felt that the witch plot needed a lot more development though. It seemed a bit half-hearted. Plus, I missed Bill! He is one of my favorites in the first books and he is hardly a character at all in this one.

Oh Sookie... I'm developing a Southern drawl from listening to these on Audible. This one was not my favorite, how could you Sookie?

How to start?... Well, I guess the main thing I have to say is FINALLY!! Eric and Sookie having sexy time! This made me feel very very happy. In this book I loved seeing the normally cocky Eric stripped down to show his vulnerable and loving side. Free from his usual sarcasm, Eric really cared for Sookie and really did protect her. I actually cried when she found the curse/spell had been broken. I do account some of the crying to having just finished a very sad movie before finishing this book. I am still a firm Bill hater. He is boring, possessive and just not Eric. I wish that someone would just stake him already! And while talking about people I don't like, that bloody Debbie Pelt. The bitch deserved what she got. All in all, I would have to say that Dead to the World is, so far, my favourite Sookie Stackhouse novel. Charlaine Harris, I love you for writing such astounding books.

This is probably my favorite in the series (and most likely will continue to be as I read on). I just love Eric Northman with all my heart and this book had so much focus on him and so little of Bill. It was the perfect scenario for me. Still not the biggest fan of Sookie, but that's not unusual.

Story does great giving you a recap of some of the events in previous books, but not to where it feels repetitive. Just enough to make you go "ah, I remember". Some great mystery opens this novel, with a very prominent character seeming to be suffering from amnesia at the hands of another supernatural sort of being. This 4th installment already has some great humor mixed in. I love that it has made laugh multiple times before even reaching 50 pages. There is plenty of action, mystery and intrigue, plus some good spice to it that makes for a wonderful read. The author really knows how to pack a lot of story into a surprisingly short book.

Is this an actual 5-star book? Absolutely not. Do I love these dumb books anyway? Absolutely yes. I've probably read this book (and series) like 10 times and I have no regrets.
