Check, Please! Book 2: Sticks & Scones
Reviews

i finished this when it was last updated but i thought i’d add it on gr to help with my challenge

tbh i only read these bc i wanted to boost my reading goal and someone told me they were short and good but i have no idea what i read and have no thoughts at all bc it was just so uninteresting to me

i love bitty so much

bitty i love you so much 😭😭😭

god i am so emotional i absolutely love this graphic novel series so freaking much. the end of the last one definitely left a cliff hanger, but it was certainly cleared up in this one! what i love so much about this graphic novel is that it shows what CAN happen in professional (NHL) hockey, once/if someone comes out. queer representation is so important in sports, especially mainstream and high contact sports. check, please! offers a look into "what if?" and it doesn't disappoint.

God I'm just grinning like a loon. This series is just so sweet and so poignant and so funny and I love it so so so much

AHSHCHANCBJAB HABXBNCHDJCJFJZJNEHFBF there. there are my very eloquently put thoughts.

Very nice and cozy.

This second super cute graphic novel was amazing and sweet. I love Jack and Eric together and I will say by the middle of this book I was actually getting into the whole hockey part of the storyline...

Loved this second edition of Check Please!

4.5☆

I really wish there was more after this! Full review to follow soon!

4.25 Awww this was sooo cute. I likd that there was a little more plot to the stories carrying Bitty through his junior and senior year compared to the first book. I loved so much how open and communicative Bitty and Jack were in their relationship. They both were so supportive of each other and there was never any unnecessary drama between them. I felt like it was also easier for me to get into the story because I could understand the hockey speak a bit better. I also appreciated how we not only got to spend time with the Samwell men's hockey team family but also the Falcons. The story also explored how coming out can look so different between different people. It was interesting seeing the comparison between Jack coming out to friends and family vs Bitty, and finally we get a little insight into how someone else on the hockey team is dealing with coming to terms with his sexuality. I also liked how graduated characters would make comeback appearances throughout. I feel like I was able to remember them a bit better than the newer teammates. I liked seeing the progression of everyone elses' lives in the background such as their careers after college, Shitty and Lardo's relationship, Ransom and Holster staying roomies, etc. I still didn't give this a full 5 stars, mostly because I kept cringing at Bitty saying "honey" and "sweetheart" all the time, like every other page, when talking to or about Jack lol. It's just a personal preference but they sound so old fashioned and it kept bothering me. I also felt like the cast got so big that I did sometimes get confused who was who, especially with the hockey freshmen each year. I literally kept forgetting who or what year Tango was in, Ford, Foxtrot? idk there were so many nick names and so many people during Bitty's senior year, I sometimes just got lost. Other than that, the story as a whole was just so wholesome and cute. I didn't even love college that much but this game me nostalgia for college life and college friends. Definitely recommend!

Such a feel good read. so cute.

gosh y'all, I've been reading this comic on Tumblr for over 5 years at this point and I just can't believe it's over and published and I get to hold it in my hands. I cried. Of course I cried. This series means so much to me, more than I'll ever understand.

I just finished reading this and had to stop myself from shouting "NO" when I realized I hit the end of the actual comic and I was tearing up reading the tweets at the end and I can't even with this. It's really over? I hope something new is in the works or will be coming out by Ukazu because I will be buying it day one! Anything by this author is going to have to be just as amazing, you get so much said in such a short space between the art and the pointed dialogue and ugh. It's just so freaking fluffy and wholesome I can't deal with it. I literally put it off knowing I'd love it too and now it's over. 😢

I love them so muuuuuuuccchhh 😭😭😭

bitty i love you so much 😭😭😭

I just love Check, Please! The only drawback I ever have with it is, I feel if you're not at least a mild hockey fan you may not be interested since it is such a huge part of the entire story. It's just so good.

Okay that was soooo cute! I loved this so much. So many beautiful emotional moments, it made my heart happy :)
