Book #79 Read in 2015 I am Princess X by Cherie Priest (YA) May and Libby become best friends and being to write books together...May writes the story about Princess X and Libby draws the pictures. When the girls are teenagers, Libby is killed, along with her mother, in a car accident. Three years later, May begins to see Princess X artwork and items all over Seattle and wonders if Libby really died after all. She begins to investigate and unveils many layers about what happened to Libby, mostly with her upstairs neighbor and computer whiz Trick. The duo face danger as they try to find out the truth. This book was a good read and will keep both high school boys and girls engaged. It had a good mystery to it, plus edgy characters and humor. The graphic novel part of it will hook readers as well. I received a copy of this book from the Amazon Vine program in exchange for a honest review. http://melissasbookpicks.blogspot.com

This story caught my eye, even though it's not my usual kind. So glad it did! Great premise, and a really fast paced thriller wrapped around an excellent story of friendship. I loved that the web comic was actually laced within the book so that you were following along with our heroes as they solved the mystery. Well done! Loved it!

This book did not WOW me with the mystery at all. I kept waiting for something to shock me and it never happened. I love the writing and the comic pages such a cool idea but the mystery was not strong enough for me.

I read this book back in 2013 and loved it. I still recommend it to people all the time. I loved the mystery, I loved trying to figure out what would happen. The book had a tight grip on my attention until I finished it.

I Am Princess X starts out with a wonderful idea. May and Libby live in Seattle and build an unlikely friendship as they develop a comic called Princess X, but Libby dies in a car crash. May never really accepts Libby's death even when her body is found down river from where her mother's car went off a bridge. May's parents divorce and she goes to live with her mother in Georgia, but spends time with her father in Seattle. Three years later, May is intrigued when she begins to see I Am Princess X stickers and merchandise all over the Seattle area. Convinced that Libby is alive, May enlists the help of computer hacker, Trick to help her track down clues in an I Am Princess X online comic that might lead her to Libby. Although the ending provides closure to the story, I would have liked less predictability and a little more drama. Overall though, a good story.
