Talk about a sucker punch

Amazing book. It was just how I like them. Full of adventure and secrets. There could have been a bit more romance in it but maybe I'll get my wish in the next book.

This series is so addictive it is virtually impossible to stay away from it! I am trying to take things slows but it seems downright impossible and as I write this review I’m about to start reading book #4. That’s how fantastic this series is. As I said in my review for Some Girl Bite, I’ve never been a vampire kind of girl. Worse, I tend to stay away from books that have anything to do with vampires (the only ones I tolerated until now were the pathetic creatures depicted in Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series). Well, this all changed thanks to Chloe Neill. She has created a fantastic world, with a whole new take on vampiredom. This world is complex and builds up with every instalment as more information is revealed and new players are introduced. There are twists, turns, revelations… The works. Friday Night Bites is yet another page turner and it was nearly impossible for me to put the book down once I started reading it. I love that Neill sprinkles hints of things to come throughout the book. Things that don’t make much sense when they are mentioned but that will definitely matter in the grand scheme of things. I just can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series to find out what it all means! As fantastic as the world building and story arc are, what actually makes this series stand out from the rest is Merit. She really is the series. I love everything about her and she is a fantastic narrative voice. She has made it to the very top of my favourite heroines list, right up there with Kate Daniels and Elise Kavanagh (Kate will always be my #1 but it’s a close tie between Elise & Merit for the #2 spot). She is now getting the hang of the whole vampire thing but there are still some strange things going on with her vampire self. She keeps it all to herself as she doesn’t know what to make of it, which leaves lots of room for development in instalments to come. I can’t wait to find out more about it! Then we have Mr “pain-in-the-butt-I’m-so-cold” master vampire Ethan Sullivan. Still lots of drama going on between him and Merit (it would help if he trusted her a bit more, among other things) but as infuriating as Ethan gets I just can’t help loving him! Morgan on the other hand was completely boring in this instalment. He was fun enough in Some Girls Bite but his character has become quite bland. He just doesn’t measure up to Ethan and there is no chemistry whatsoever between Merit and him. Now Merit and Ethan, that’s another story altogether! Lots of sparks flying whenever they meet and you never know if they will end up killing each other or tearing each other’s clothes off. Well, I have a pretty good idea where this is heading but I think it’s nice that Neill keeps building the sexual tension up. These two will end up exploding if something doesn’t happen soon! ;) Friday Night Bites is yet another fantastic instalment in this series and I’m going to dive straight into Twice Bitten, the next book in the series!

Yep. Still like Book 2, yay! It had the same snark and references as the first.
