Reviews

I have seen this book around a lot on Instagram; I knew that I needed to check this one out after reading reviews and the plot of the book itself and I have been saving this for my Holiday down on the Devon Coast and what a book this was to experience whilst on Holiday and having limited Reading time. This book is rather heavy in the topics that are within so please look up Trigger Warnings if you need to
Binding 13 follows Shannon, a girl who moves to a private school in Ireland after being bullied at her previous schools and Johnny, a star rugby player. Shannon meets Johnny when he accidentally hits a ball at her, and they quickly become friends. Will they stay friends or become something more?
Shannon has a heartbreaking backstory that really pulls at the heartstrings. Bullied at school and abused at home, she's a survivor with huge inner strength.
Johnny, the male hero, embodies the classic alpha-protective archetype with a side of sweetness. Their connection simmers beneath the surface for most of the book, building anticipation for the inevitable romance.
This book is one of the most emotional and touching stories I have read thus far. Shannon and Johnny will remain in my thoughts forever. I really mean that. There is something about the way this book was written that makes you utterly believe these characters are real. The pain and suffering throughout the book touch’s you in the most gut-wrenching way. And you are left wanting nothing but to protect the characters with every ounce of your being. At least that’s how it was for me.
I’ll never forget these characters. I am starting Keeping 13 right away because what was that ending!!!!! I need MORE.

Very good. Characters are amazing.

no plot. annoying characters. bad writing. just boring overall

Whilst I enjoyed the fact this book doesn’t shy away from hard topics such as domestic violence, abuse, injury, and mental health, I just found it pretty repetitive and so long. This book, if shorter could have been super impactful.
No need to read the rest of the series!

“him or us?” ended me im deceased

it's amazing

I really didn’t want another high school romance get me hooked but here we are. In my defense: they’re Irish which makes it feel like a more male and romance coded derry girls universe ( the “shite” word count is HIGH ) which I found extremely entertaining

binding 13 changed my perspective on love. the way this book was written beautifully, the characters are just wonderful and this book has to be number one on everyone's list. 👏🏽🤍

I went into this book fully knowing that i was here for vibes and a fun time so I really liked this book, it was great to get me out of a slump where I kind of wasnt feeling anything when reading and i couldn't connect to characters and trust that this book destroyed that slump for me. This book took me for a whirlwind of emotions. my only criticism is that the author repeated the same descriptions for dialogue and emotions so many times it annoyed me & the inner monologues were very underdeveloped because of that but the dialogue and character interactions were so entertaining i did not care. Also the ending was abrupt im not the biggest fan of that.

Johnny Kavanagh, that’s all I have to say

Best book I’ve read hands down.

I LOVED IT SO MUCH THE SLOWBURN🔥🔥🔥🔥

I’m sorry but I just CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME continuing to read this book. I’m on chap. 6 now and idk how I was able to read this far. And probably I can only read this far. It’s TOO CRINGE. TOO CHEESY and just not for me.
If I was in middle grade, I would love this book. But as of now, I find it super hard to read this as the plot lines just ….. 😮💨And i’m so done with it.
An update:
So i finished it. And i still stand by it for being cringey, butttttttt as it goes, i find it pretty ok and during some scenes, it was pretty hilarious. Love gibsie, he’s freaking funny. Can’t wait to read his part of the book.

no words just perfection

Amazing! So well written. Can’t wait for the next book!

I *totally* understand who don't like this book (I feel like the same goes for Magnolia Parks, you either love or hate it), not surprisingly I loved them both 😀👍🏻

This book was good and all, but the main character really said that she wasn't like other girls. I'm not even kidding. There was a lot of "she's so small" energy, and it made me feel a little annoyed. I don't get the hype. I still read the entire thing; it just dragged a little.

At first I thought “why are people loving this book?” I hated their HUGE height difference (it was just weird and too much), the way they describe her as soo small ( I was literally imagining a child), I hated how she just always cried and never confronted her problems, the fucking car rides that johnny gave her were always the same shit( develop a little bit). BUT the ending was soo good and johnny is so protective and sweet.
What I’m really looking for Gibsies book

not my thing

i was entertained! WE LOVE YOU SHANNON
Highlights

I simply enjoyed admiring him.
From a safe distance.
When he wasn't looking.

Boom, boom, fucking boom, Da. I'm done for...

No, no, no, Da, I'm serious," I slurred. "I think I love that girl."
"Well, who's this girl?"
"She's a river," I sighed and closed my eyes. "I'm keeping her Da.

She makes my heart go, like, whoa. Boom, boom, fucking boom. All the time.

I once read somewhere that we mature with damage, not with age

Now, tell me who made you cry and I'll fix it
Thiiiisssss🎀✨️

Shanoon, like the river..

All three of them went straight to Joey. Because he was our protector.

“Leave my sister alone,” Tadhg growled.

And it was right there that I cried like a fucking child on my fathers shoulders.

He had his tongue in my mouth, his hand in my hair, and my heart in his pocket.

Because I had caught feelings for Shannon. Huge fucking feelings.

“Good luck today,” …
“For being nothing like the rest of them.”

We make a pretty good team, Shannon like the river.

Because you’re Beautiful.

Well, I love you, Johnny Kavanagh.
Even though you’re leaving.

Stop lying to yourself, my brain hissed, you know you love him with every piece of your fractured heart.

No, baby, I don’t mind.

She was worth it all.

Bella stared up for the longest minute before screaming and stamping her foot. I shit you not, she actually stamped her feet.

Bella Wilkinson was going to kill you. If your father doesn’t get there first.

Operation Binding Thirteen

One of these days, I was going to get out of this house. And when I did, I was never going to comeback.

You’re playing with fire.
