“She clearly lives in that world with him,” I mused, feeling myself smile for the first time in weeks, as I watched them. 

this felt so long. I never thought id finish this at one point. This book was not a romance book it was an actual horror novel. I got war flashbacks from watching the movie “knocked up” but if the characters were 18 and came with a bunch more baggage. I had to put this book down for like 1 1/2 weeks cause i was so bothered by aofies pregnancy plot line. And then I put it down for more time because it was just bad and boring. The book had too much smut. Like they are freshly 18 and the first 30% of this book feels like pure smut. Very disturbing to me. the thing driving me to read this was my beloved shannon and seeing the binding 13/ keeping 13 plot lines in this book through joeys perspective but dear god whyyyyy. (This is where the 1 star come from because i liked seeing that + lizzie dragging joey off the bridge was nice i liked the addition of lizzie and joeys relationship)But this whole this was just such bad treatment of the character joey, this poor dude has been having to take care of his entire family since he was 12 and now when hes finally about to be freed she gets knocked up are you kidding?? first time too?? oh you would have to put me in a padded room if i was him. And i get the whole thing of him having his chance to not become his father but like damn wait a couple years dude. Also aofie almost getting raped by his father? why add that in? I feel like adding rape scenes into books is so uncomfortable just no…. its a weird line i will not cross in any media it’s unsettling and shouldn’t be used as a plot device. Especially when you cannot write. Like as much as i loved the first 2 books and was iffy on the third, this lady cannot write so don’t add some rape plot line. Like this should not be something just thrown in to add some drama and tension??and then joey had the audacity to be pissed that shes traumatized and can only connect him to the man who tried to rape her (less than an hour ago) OMG being hurt about that sure be hurt okay but the girl has a point and is also hurt like dont be such a loser. AND THEN THEYRE GOING TO FUCK ARE YOU KIDDING. can they solve a single problem without fucking in the first half of this book? i fear no. The 2nd half got a bit better but it was boring and nothing really stuck because it took so long to get there. Like if the middle part was shortened and just more organized and less surface level this book would be so much better. and

5 stars for a happy ending for Joey he deserved it 

The first about 400 pages, I was so sure this would be a five star book, because it was such a gripping and emotional read, I cried so much. Joey Lynch is taken advantage of time and time again, and you never realise it from Binding 13 because you just think he's not got any other issues, aside from the fact of his useless father and even more useless mother. But his drug abuse, and past, obviously make it so clear how difficult his life had been from start to end. 

And then, to top it all off, Aoife gets pregnant. I was so mad that Aeofia got pregnant it threw me off entirely. I hate the pregnancy trope, and he had so much going on, he had to have his own child thrown onto his shoulders also. Honestly, it felt to me selfish from Aoife, but once I'd finished the book, I felt glad she had the kid, because Joey and her  finally became a healthy and good couple; he went to rehab, got his job again,became happy and found himself a pair of new and loving parents who take care of him and his sibilings. 

Also, the interactions between Gibsie and Aoife? Absolutely adorable and hilarious "Mrs Joey the Hurler". I love Gibsie, cannot wait to read his book. 

I hate Joey's father, and I hate his mother too. I have a kernal of empathy for her, but I also remember, she did this to herself. She was only a child herself when she was pregnant, but time and again, she lets Teddy enter her house, beat her, beat her children and spend all the money on alcohol. And the worst part is, this actually happens in real life. 

Also, Aeofa and Joey's relationship went round and round in circles, with him promising to stay clean, then going to Shawn's house, Aeofa having to bail him out etc. It was so difficult to watch, especially when you realise she's pregnant. 

Only thing I didn't like: The pregnany trope, the book length is way too long and it was a little repetitive, although that's probably the point.
