Joey and Aiofe are my fav couple and no one can change my mind

I just didn’t feel as gravitated to this as i was the first 2 books, still enjoyable though just a lot

Joey and Aeofie are such a heartbreaking and frustrating couple, their on and off relationship/friendship sparked more than a few bursts of anger from me while reading, with me asking always “can you just get together already??”. It frustrated me, and it reminded me a lot of Magnolia and BJ’s relationship in magnolia Parks. This rocky friendship was so real and so authentic, however, showing how in real life, relationships aren’t just one straight line, shouldn’t require you to give the person things you don’t want to provide, that you shouldn’t stay in a relationship for comfort and most importantly, if you’re not physically in a good physical or mental space, like Joey, then it’s more than okay to call the relationship off in the hopes of amending yourself. I cried a lot this book, especially with the horrible details of the abuse the mother suffers, the children suffer and Joey suffers, the judge he received when no one knew his true background, even Aofie, who sometimes annoyed me because she wasn’t understanding the severity of his home life. Makes you realise there’s people and families out there who live this exact stuff in real life; it’s not just a story.
