Quando se tratava de resolver os problemas dos outros, eu era formidável. Só não encontrava solução para os meus.

Só que tudo aquilo me parecia irreal: era uma espécie de tripe, um belo filme. Mas a palavra “fim” já não tardava muito.

E, nessas alturas, o mundo não me parecia assim tão horrível.

Agora tinha uma ideia mais concreta do que significava a prostituição. Sabia exatamente o que desejavam aqueles tipos que me abordavam.

— Escuta, miúda — disse-me Detlef. - Também vou parar de consumir. Vais ver.

Posto isto, ele injectou-se e eu snifei. Sentíamo-nos nas nuvens e falámos da nossa felicidade futura, juntos e sem heroína.

Durante vários meses senti-me em paz e quase sempre feliz comigo própria.

Em Gropiusstadt fui aprendendo aos poucos que as únicas brincadeiras toleradas eram aquelas previstas pelos adultos. Ou seja: fazer bolos de areia e deslizar pelo escorrega. Ter ideias próprias era arriscado.

Os meus pais punham-se furiosos e culpavam os filhos dos operários, acusando-os de sujarem as casas. Mas a culpa não era dos operários.

The most boring book ever. Literally, nothing happens. The story is pretty much stale throughout the whole book, it's just the same events happening over and over again. Pretty much you could read the first chapter and the last and get away with it. I honestly cannot believe I lost this much time of my life reading this (The book is still quite long. At least longer than I thoughtt it was). I just heard so many good things about it and people praising it for being a book everyone should read so I really wanted to read it. I had already tried it a couple of years ago and hated it so I ended up DNFing it. This time I decided to push myself to do it. Well... I wish I had just given up.
