Im a huge fan of Christina Dodds historical romances and havent really ventured into her newer non historical books. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I sat down and read this in one sitting and while I did think there were a couple slower parts this book really sucked me in. 
I was fully invested in what was happening to Evie/Petie.. A young girl in the wrong place at the wrong time who was in juvie, and upon being released finds herself a new job in Alaska with a really nice guy.. Or is he? 
By the time Evie starts to question Donald White its too late. 
She is convicted of a multitude of crimes including the double murder of a mother and son. However on the way to prison her bus gets wrecked and she is the only survivor. Thought to be someone else she leaves town and starts a new life in hiding. Waiting for the moment when she tracks Donald down and finds a way to bring him to justice. 
I really admired Petie/ Evie.. She finds herself completely alone, and having to figure out how to survive. She teaches herself all about finding lost things, languages, and becomes someone that people rely on.. 
When the day arrives that she finds out where Donald is, she drops everything to make sure that he won't be able to hurt anyone else.
Zone is a man who is grieving, his family was murdered and he thinks that Evie did it. When an anonomous person lets him know that she is still alive he goes on a mission to find her. 
When things start to come together and Petie/Evie ends up in the same place as Donald White things begin to happen fast.. Everything comes together and ends perfectly.... in my opinion.
I also really liked some of the secondary characters. The chief of police and Hawley, the guy that Petie works for while she is hiding from the world. 
I hope we get lots more books in this series, I would love to read more about Rockin Alaska and the people that live there.

Review: For the most part, this was a good book. The setting and tone of the book is perfect for the genre, the story is intriguing and kept me interested in the book, and I liked the world building. I also felt that the twists were fairly good and, while predictable, was really good.

However, I couldn’t connect with the characters. They all feel flat and uninteresting and their development wasn’t that well done.

Verdict: It was good, just needs a bit more character development.

This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.This was my first time venturing into a world created by Christina Dodd and what a trip. Wrong Alibi is the first book in the Murder in Alaska series. This installment introduces the reader to eighteen-year-old Evelyn Jones, who has recently been from juvenile detention after a four-year sentence. Determined to get her life back on track, she accepted a job from a Donald White in Rockin, Alaska. However, what Evelyn thought would be the means to regain her mother’s favour turned into a nightmare when her new employer framed her for murder and embezzlement. Charged and convicted, she faced life imprisonment, however fate had other plans and soon she would find herself on the run, under an assumed name with one thing on her mind, revenge.

I had a great time with this story, which unfolded at an exciting and suspenseful pace. Revenge may have been the dominant theme of this exciting tale, however, the reader saw where the characters went through a process of healing and forgiveness. The story drew me in, but the thing that kept me turning the pages were the twists, which kept changing the game. I never knew what to expect. The author treated the reader to a smidgen of romance, which I honestly never expected. Despite its unexpected introduction, I thought it blended well in to the story

Spending time with the characters and getting to know each one proved to be an entertaining experience. Evelyn’s story wreaked havoc on my emotions. The pain and heartache she experienced had the potential to break her, but she rose above it, which demonstrated her strength and determination. The secondary characters brought their share of excitement, danger and humour to the story.

Although I enjoyed the story, it was not without its issues. Sections of the story did not flow smoothly, and there were some aspects, which could have been further developed.

In concluding Wrong Alibi, which featured a wonderful cast of characters, providing an escaping reality for a few hours. Readers who enjoy suspense and thrillers should add it to their book shelf.This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

This was a great book with lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I really liked the character of Petie even though she was extremely naive at times. It had a very suspenseful and exciting pace which kept me connected to the story and I really liked the author's writing style. The book was a little choppy at times but I still enjoyed it nonetheless as my first Christina Dodd book. I would definitely pick up more of her books in the future.

Since having been convicted of a double murder and escaping during a landslide, Evie has been living as Petie at the isolated Midnight Sun Fishing Camp. There she learned the skills of hospitality as well as deep research that includes finding stolen antiquities and finding lost people. After searching for and finding loyal customer, Jeen Lee's missing son, Jeen offers Evie help in finding the man responsible for the double murder and clearing her name. Evie takes Jeen up on her offer when she discovers that the murderer is dating her mother.

Wrong Alibi develops a very interesting premise of a woman wrongly accused, but it starts to go off the rails with the character of Zone Jameson - the husband and father of the victims in the double murder. Much of what happens with his character isn't very believable. Also, other than Evie's feelings of isolation, most of the emotions in the story don't ring true, leaving a feeling of detachment from the characters. Overall, this is a decent mystery that could have been so much better.
