The True Love Experiment

Love Fizzy as a character. Didn't love this book. I can't stand the hunky, somehow single, super tall and mature man who "doesn't have time to date" trope. I also thought there'd be more time spent in the reality show, but most of it was in summary. They don't even get to the reality show plot till halfway through the book.

About 90% of this book is just the two MCs eye fucking each other, or actually fucking each other. I mean, how lame. Please let me slightly entertain the possibility of the couple not ending up together, even if ~*as a romance rule*~ I know they do. Otherwise there is zero tension. I didn't care for the intense pandering towards romance readers either. No shade, because I literally just read one myself, but the authors spent a lot of time sucking up to their audience. It was irritating.

Sparks fly when a romance novelist and a documentary filmmaker join forces to craft the perfect Hollywood love story and take both of their careers to the next level—but only if they can keep the chemistry between them from taking the whole thing off script—from the New York Times bestselling authors of The Soulmate Equation and The Unhoneymooners. Felicity “Fizzy” Chen is lost. Sure, she’s got an incredible career as a beloved romance novelist with a slew of bestsellers under her belt, but when she’s asked to give a commencement address, it hits her: she hasn’t been practicing what she’s preached. Fizzy hasn’t ever really been in love. Lust? Definitely. But that swoon-worthy, can’t-stop-thinking-about-him, all-encompassing feeling? Nope. Nothing. What happens when the optimism she’s spent her career encouraging in readers starts to feel like a lie? Connor Prince, documentary filmmaker and single father, loves his work in large part because it allows him to live near his daughter. But when his profit-minded boss orders him to create a reality TV show, putting his job on the line, Connor is out of his element. Desperate to find his romantic lead, a chance run-in with an exasperated Fizzy offers Connor the perfect solution. What if he could show the queen of romance herself falling head-over-heels for all the world to see? Fizzy gives him a hard pass—unless he agrees to cast the contestants according to a list of romance archetypes. When he says yes, and production on The True Love Experiment begins, Connor wonders if that perfect match will ever be in the cue cards for him, too. The True Love Experiment is the book fans have been waiting for ever since Fizzy’s debut in the New York Times bestselling Soulmate Equation. But when the lights come on and all eyes are on her, it turns out the happily ever after Fizzy had all but given up on might lie just behind the camera.

Connor and Fizzy were so down bad for each other and I loved watching it unfold right in front of them. 🤩 I loved this, definitely on my favorites list now!

honestly entertaining and would recommend. gave me little butterflies, but it wasn’t a mind blowing, life altering book.

Felt a bit rushed in the beginning, but the pace evened out eventually and the ending was perfect

Holy moly! I am still crying over the ending. This was my first Christina Lauren book but it won't be my last.

i love books who include more pov’s, especially from the male perspective, and i think that the storyline in general is also pretty unique but sometimes it was too lovey-dovey for me which i should expect from a romance book but nonetheless i enjoyed reading it !

I enjoyed The Soulmate Equation but thought Fizzy stole the show, so I was thrilled to find out she was getting a book. She's a larger-than-life character who isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if it's a little raunchy. She has a tough exterior, but it hides such a sensitive heart, and I'm glad we got to see more of that here. I loved the relationship between her and Connor. They complemented one another well, and the chemistry was off the charts. I also liked seeing Connor's relationship with his daughter, which was so cute. My only gripe with it was that it was a little too long. I kept going, "All this has happened, but there are still XX pages left?" But that's also because I don't think romances need to be over 400 pages. Despite that, it was still a pretty quick read, and I loved it so much.

Tropes: cinnamon roll, forbidden love, instalust, single dad

Christina Lauren will always hold a special place in my heart with their dynamic writing, but TLE just hit it out of the park. I don’t want to be friends with Fizzy, I literally want to

her and not just because that means I can get my hands on Connor 😉 So far my favorite read of the year. The audiobook was beautifully done and the narrators were the perfect fit. Target bonus chapter and Barnes & Noble bonus chapter were well worth the time I spent reading in the book aisles 😂
