Great book and very helpful for the aspiring writer. Anyone who is just curious to understand the inner workings of a good story and why some stories seem to have instant and timeless appeal will also enjoy this book. 

The Writer‚Äôs Journey borrows heavily from the work of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell, but frames their studies in the context of stories and screenplays. WJ takes us through the stages of a compelling story as it follows the hero‚Äôs (protagonist‚Äôs) journey through a story. The book also discusses archetypes - including heros, mentors, shapeshifters, allies, and heralds - and discusses their role(s) in the story. The author does a nice job of relating archetypes and story stages to familiar stories and movies so that the reader can see the concepts applied in the real world. 

I reluctantly had to surrender my copy to the library today since it was due but I liked it so much that I ordered one from Amazon so that I can use it as a reference.
