This book was simply addicting, i loved both of the main characters and the plot was dark and interesting, every line pulling me deeper in, it made me feel tense, excited, sad and fascinated   It is definitely one of my favorite books

One of the only books that i have a similiar darkness to. I wish there were more books like these. Thank you Stylo Fantome for creating such a masterpiece. Also gave me god complex

I don't really know how to gather my thoughts on this book, but I think that if there was a bit more of the suspense/thriller aspect I would've given it a higher rating. I'm usually into dark romance, but this one just wasn't intriguing to me.

Porque más gente no habla de este libro, sinceramente fue uno de mis favoritos del 2020 y creo que ya tengo bastante en claro que tipo de personajes son mis favoritos.


  Personajes principales


Emma es la protagonista y un personaje muy interesante, casi todos los personajes femeninos de la autora me encantan. Emma es un personaje trágico, ha tenido una vida horrible y llena de abusos gracias a su madre (uno de los personajes que más odio ahora). Mientras que Paul 'Church' Logan es un psicópata, literalmente, a él no le importa absolutamente nadie y cuando conoce a Emma, por fin siente que una persona lo entiende y decide ponerla a prueba de diferentes maneras.

Su relación es muy tóxica y desquiciada pero me encanto, ambos tienen traumas que los impulsan a cometer actos dañinos pero la gran diferencia es que Church piensa las cosas y Emma es demasiado impulsiva. Por esto, ambos se ven enfrentados a problemas muy peligrosos. Aun así me gustó mucho su dinámica y como se re fue llevando a cabo su relación.


  Trama


La historia básicamente trata de la vida de Emma y cómo Church llega a ser el punto focal de su vida, ella no tenía realmente nada por lo que vivir hasta que llegó él y le dio esperanzas a aspirar a un vida diferente, no necesariamente buena pero si diferente. La madre de Emma, Margo, se casa con el padre de Church y ambos son hermanastros, pero solo que no es una familia funcional así que realmente no son hermanastros, sobre todo porque cuando se casaron Emma ya tenía 24 años. Obviamente al ser una duología esta termina con un cliffhanger, el cual fue muy triste pero me dio mucha curiosidad por saber cómo terminaría. La trama en general es bastante buena


  Personajes secundarios

Hay varios personajes secundarios pero el único que vale la pena mencionar en este libro es la madre de Emma; Margo. Es un personaje tan odioso e interesado, lo único que desea es deshacerse de Emma pero hace todo lo posible para mantenerla atada a ella y únicamente le hace la vida imposible, simplemente insoportable.

Lo ame, simplemente lo ame, hace mucho que no leía un libro tan loco como este así que definitivamente lo recomiendo.

Why people don't talk about this book, it was honestly one of my favorites of 2020 and I think I'm already quite surer about what kind of characters are my favorites.

  Main characters  

Emma is the protagonist and a very interesting character, I love almost all the female characters of the author. Emma is a tragic character, she has had a horrible childhood and has been abused almost all her life thanks to her mother (one of the characters I hate the most now). While Paul 'Church' Logan is a psychopath, literally he doesn't care about anyone at all and when he meets Emma, ​​he finally feels like a person understands him and decides to test her in different ways.

  
    “I chose to stop speaking because there was never anyone worth talking to,” he growled at her. “And I don't speak now because it would be dangerous if I did. And they call me Church because yes, I should be worshiped.” 
  

Their relationship is very toxic and unhinged but I love it, they both have traumas that drive them to commit harmful acts but the big difference is that Church thinks things over and Emma is too impulsive. Because of this, both are faced with very dangerous problems. Even so, I really liked his dynamics and their relationship was carried out.

  
    “You're not beautiful,” he breathed. She nodded as his fingers wrapped around her throat.
“So you've said.”
“You're not,” he insisted, his eyes falling shut as he squeezed tighter and tighter. “You're ... exquisite. You're perfection.” 
  

  Plot  

The story is basically about Emma's life and how Church becomes the focal point of her life, she really had nothing to live for until he came along and gave her hope to aspire to a different life, not necessarily good but different. Emma's mother, Margo, marries Church's father and they become stepbrothers, but since it isn't a functional family they aren't really stepbrothers, especially since Emma was already 24 years old when they got married. Obviously, being a duology it ends with a cliffhanger, which was very sad but made me very curious to know how it would end. The plot in general is quite good

  
    “I'll never kill you,” he whispered, then he delivered a long, slow lick, starting at the base of her breast bone and going up to her throat. “No matter how much you beg me to.”
“Why?”
“Because, you've already given me what I want most. You're afraid of me and you're falling in love with me. You're the best thing I've ever seen in my life. How could I let that go?” 
  

  Side characters  

There are several minor characters but the only one worth mentioning in this book is Emma's mother; Margo. She's such a hateful and annoying character, all she wants is to get rid of Emma but does everything possible to keep her tied to her and she just makes her life difficult, just unbearable.

  Final thoughts  

I loved it, I just loved it, I haven't read a crazy book like this in a long time so I definitely recommend it.

Holy shit. What did I just read? That was one f*cked up, wild ride. It was completely whack, and I loved it. These two, Church and Emma, they’re toxic for each other, in the sense that they bring out the darkness in each other. A darkness they desperately no longer want to hide. They are both completely obsessed with each other, and their thought processes will make your eyes come out of their sockets... no joke.

Both Church and Emma come from a troubled past and have skeletons in their closets, but it’s also clear that they have always been different. The snapshots into their childhoods show us that. It makes for interesting character building and development.

Does is make me insane that I swooned over Church? Over his words? And found him incredibly sexy? Also completely deranged, but still sexy? Aye, Stylo Fantôme is a brave one. She pushed boundaries with this book! It’s also my first book by her. Great way to pop my cherry eh?
