I'm all abortioned out. But what a story!

A captivating, well narrated story with love for the characters. The light-hearted and sometimes funny moments last longer than the sad ones. You end the book knowing about a whole new universe that exists somewhere between the lobster seabed and the apple orchards in Maine and with a good feeling.

This is a slower paced book, but I absolutely loved the story. I also like the way Irving addressed many social issues, which still apply today.

This was the first John Irving book I've read and I enjoyed it. The characters were richly drawn and felt like real people. The plot moved a little slowly at times and the ending felt a little abrupt but overall, it was a good story.
