Saving British Wildlife

Saving British Wildlife Success Stories

Claire Throp2018
Children who care about wild animals: roll up your sleeves, there is work to be done! Some species of animals, such as that the white-tailed eagle and the large blue butterfly, died out in Britain in the 20th century. But efforts by experts to reintroduce them from other countries have been successful. This book looks at the work being done to save British wildlife, focusing on the success stories that now see certain species thriving. We also touch on species whose numbers are starting to go down, such as hedgehogs, starlings, puffins and small tortoiseshell butterflies. Find out in our "Tips" section how you can help to look after the wildlife either in your own garden our when you are out in the countryside.
