Heartrending read Beautifully written book about 2 parents with a critically ill child, facing a truly impossible choice. Because they cannot agree about a course of treatment, it is left to an English court to decide their son's future. The rest of the book is reminiscent of the movie Sliding Doors as it follows 2 different scenarios: what might happen in the future after 2 different court rulings. I worked in a PICU for several years, and I advocated for my granddaughter during her hospital stays up to and including her liver transplant stay. The story hit close to home. It is a hard book to read emotionally, but well worth it.

I loved it at the beginning, but half way through it switched formats and the new style did not agree with me at all. I am finding that a lot of authors are changing the style of the book mid-stream and usually not to my liking. This is about two parents who are making medical decisions about their child's health and have opposing views. I am not sorry I read it, but really did not enjoy the final half of the book.

Pip is by his side every day in the PICU (paediatric intensive care unit) while Max splits his time between the USA... read the full review on my blog: https://www.amybucklesbookshelf.co.uk...

Absolutely loved this book. The characters are so well written and the story flows incredibly well. I was surprised by the After part and I think it was an amazing plot twist. Something different to anything I have read before. So clever. A must read.
