I wanted to like this book more than I did. Zoe and Henry are great characters and there's even a ferrel cat that narrates some of the chapters. But there's also a lot of talk about god and there are so many characters that fall pretty flat - one dimensional meanies and do-gooders. And the wild boy who lives in a small patch of woods with a white deer? I thought this book would be more compelling and I think it could have been if it didn't meander so much or try to imbue everything with meaning.
