I read this book in a day. It started off compelling and full of heart. I was in tears reading the first essay, it was heartfelt, honest and raw. 

As the book went on, I felt that perhaps it should have been called ‘how I love’. I don’t know, it’s difficult reading a book centred solely on one person’s experience. I appreciated the honesty, I appreciated that the stories have many a resemblance to my own experience. But I was left wanting so much more. I want to know the depth and breadth of love in society. I want to know how we *all* can love, how love can be transformative, how it can quell anxieties, and not just create them. Perhaps I love a writer who views the subject matter with a healthy distance, dipping in with their own experience only when necessary. 

I probably need another book for this, but for now, I have finished ‘how we love’ wanting to know more about how we love.
