The Thief of Always

a little young for me but i still thoroughly enjoyed it. i was a little distracted by noticing just how many similarities this book has with coraline - if neil gaiman was not already outed as a shitty person i would be losing my mind (even more than i am right now). 

either way, it’s such a fun dark fantasy novel, and it really reminded me of guillermo del toro’s laberinto del fauno in vibes. lovely book thank u darius my coworker who is at least 40 years older than me for ur clive barker obsession and lending me ur copy.

Mesmerizing book; I read it in one day. And the story, right up my alley! A ten year old boy gets whisked off to a fantasy world whose sugary sweet veneer steadily chips away to reveal a sour, foul underbelly. EXACTLY the kind of story I like -- beautifully written, suspenseful, and spooky. Perfect.
