Everyone in Delta Cameron's life has been taken from her, her parents and her husband. Everyone except her young daughter. Now, claiming Delta can't care properly for a child with epilepsy, her wealthy mother-in-law is threatening to take Abby from her as well. The only place Delta knows to go where the lawyers serving papers can't find her, is the cottage her aunt left her in the Texas coastal town.In Port Hope, Delta allows her heart to grieve and begins to trust the unconventional locals: a craftsman, Coffee, who lost his leg to cancer, and yet is as happy-go-lucky as the mutt who's adopted him; Fitz and Red, quarreling fishermen who have split the beach between them yet won't fish if the other isn't there; and Beulah, the cantankerous bar owner who, like Delta, has worries about her own daughter. Just when Delta begins to trust again, her mother-in-law finds them.
