Devils’ Day Party completely took me by surprise. Devils’ Day Party tells the story of Karma, a girl who gets stuck in a time loop and seems doomed to repeat the same day every day. Unfortunately for her the day she repeats is the day of the Devils’ Day Party. This is a weird town tradition where the local high schools dress up and spend a night in the woods with masks on. A complete day/night of debauchery. Our main character is on the outs with one of the more popular groups at school, and has been the target of their bullying since freshman year. To be completely honest, even though I love the authors other works, I was hesitant to download this title. I feel like every book I see in my kindle recommendations is a RH bully romance and I am TIRED of them! I’m not a huge fan of the whole – guy is a jerk but I fall in love with him – romances and even though I liked the first couple I read, they now seem redundant. But CM Stunich usually puts out bomb books and this one I knew I had to read even if the premise was based on two tropes I am growing tired of: bully romances and reverse harem romances. So with hesitancy I downloaded this novel. And I’m so glad I did download Devils’ Day Party. The way these characters were presented was so artfully done. I have to say that no character in this book (except maybe April) was perfectly honest, good, or nice. They all had trouble pasts and serious hang ups that caused them to act up. The enter this time loop and it gave me (and Karma) to see the characters in a whole new light. No these characters aren’t super likable and IRL they throw all kinds of red flags. But in this story they were beautifully broken and I loved it! Seriously I can’t tell you how many books I started and gave up on because of the bully or RH theme, but this book drew me in and swept me up in its intriguing plot line. What I enjoyed most was how each day in the time loop Karma learned more about the people around her that she didn’t before. It was this sense of constant discovery that made this book so fascinating to read. In conclusion, I would 100% recommend Devils’ Day Party The best thing I can say about why you should pick up a copy of this book is that it kept my attention even though I am currently avoiding books with similar themes. This book had the HEA, the enemies to lovers trope, and constant twists that were completely unexpected. I LOVED this book.
