Enemies to lovers to enemies? Sign me tf up

The writing style was exactly the same as the first book which made for an easy and quick read. Book two is definitely more character driven. We finally get more backstory for Rowan and Orion and I was big fan of that. There's also more character development for Rowan in this one. Watching her grow into herself has been one of my favorite aspects of this series so far. Unfortunately, we're still only focusing on how beautiful Orion is and don't get much character development for him in this one. For a lord of chaos...there's not much chaos or debauchery and it's the one thing I'm really dying for.

Most of the book seems to be filler and setup for the third book. However, we do get conflict between the two MCs which adds some depth to their relationship.

And we finally get more satisfying spice! Thank god. Still not as much heat as I would like. I still live for their chemistry tho.

Finished this one in a day just like the first book lol. Immediately downloaded the third book

Necesito el tercero ya!! Menos mal que sale este mes. Pienso leerme el final del libro antes de disfrutar de la historia, yo con esta tensión no puedo vivir. 

Me debato entre querer que destroce a Orion o que acabe redimiendose. Antes obtaba completamente por la segunda opción, pero este destierro de la ciudad (muy al estilo Cardan) me ha dolido.

This sequel continues to be action-packed. But what stood out to me the most was how much we got to learn about Rowan’s background. I loved meeting a new character that I hope appears in the rest of the series! I still don’t understand much of the hype surrounding this series, though.

Lord of Embers was the book where we learn more about Rowan’s demon side and she becomes much more comfortable with herself. The amount of changes going on in her life have made her grow into the person she is. 

I enjoyed the dynamic between all the characters. There were definitely a lot of changes in Orion, based on his revenge for sure. It kept me interested in the story! The world building was as always beautiful. I really enjoyed City of Thorns, I was super excited to dive into this one. Although this book was a bit slower than the first, I was still interested in the development of the story.

After loving City of Thorns, I’m so happy I finally dove into LORD OF EMBERS, just in time for the release of the final installment! This one was definitely more character-driven than its predecessor was. I really enjoyed Rowan, and was happy to unravel more of her past and her relation to Morgana. The star of the book was by far the relationship with Orion. Did I prefer the complicity of the first book? Yes. But these two have so much chemistry they delivered on the enemy banter quite well, and I loved watching them both struggling with their feelings following the events of the first book.

Plot wise, I didn’t feel as invested as I did in City of Thorns. I was missing some of that intrigue that made the first installment so unique, and found this one to be slower and less exciting for the most part. However, it did have some great reveals for both characters, and I loved the ending! Very excited to see how this series will wrap up.

This book was a worthy sequel for City of Thorns! The tension was amazing and the pace was excellent. I couldn't put it down.

Besides having some questions answered, I loved seeing Rowan grow into her newfound demon identity and becoming even more of a badass woman. She's a great female protagonist: strong and determined but with heart. And Orion...goodness, that demon does things to my poor heart. The Lord of Chaos is brutal, but there is a hidden tenderness to him that had me swooning. Together, he and Rowan light fires.

The relationship is so complex and addicting. There's attraction and a deeper connection happening despite they're natural enemies and shouldn't care for one another. Longing and rivalry were a constant throughout the entire book. It's enemies to lovers at its finest, and it makes me even more excited for the third instalment! How will it end? My HEA-loving heart would love nothing more than for the two of them to become allies, lovers and rulers together, but seeing how intense things were in this book...will they? I hope so!

Happy release day to Lord of Embers, the highly anticipated sequel to City of Thorns!! 🙌🏻 My favorite part of this book was the continued back-and-forth between Rowan and Orion- they have the best chemistry and the worst attitudes about it and it’s really entertaining. I also loved the pacing, I finished this one pretty quickly because the plot moves along really well and there’s never any lull- makes it hard to find a stopping point and easy to keep breezing through. 😜 This book is definitely character-driven. We dive much deeper into who Rowan is and her history, it was really nice leaning into the mysterious aspects of City of Thorns and unraveling some of those answers. There’s also a ton of setting imagery and I always appreciate that, especially in fantasy settings. Makes it so easy to feel like you’re really present in the story.

Wow, just wow! C.N. Crawford has done it again. I honestly cannot say that I expected the direction in which the story would take us after that ending in City of Thorns, and I was not disappointed. I love Rowan and Orion, both who have suffered loss, both shaped by those losses, into two different people…or are they?

 We saw a lot of growth in Rowan since discovering her demon powers and saw her step into those powers, ready to accept her destiny to rule, the only problem…Orion, the Lord of Chaos, is also destined to rule. There is so much tension between these two, will they…won’t they…kill each other for the crown? 

So many questions from book 1 were answered but now I have so many more!  The story is very fast paced, I could not put it down, and I cannot wait for book 3!
