I got this book as a gift from my grandmother, so I didn’t have high expectations. Mistake. I adored this book. I found myself, even in the eventless Outback, unable to stop plowing forward. The writing was without fault, and Meggie’s story, which is also that of her family’s, was compelling and moving. The insight of the dynamics were so real. I’ll carry it with me forever.

Collen te enamora y amas a los personajes (bueno, yo odiaba a Ralph); Justine fue siempre mi modelo a seguir y Rainer el hombre de mi vida. Quiero comprarlo por tercera vez y llorar eternamente.

I definitely enjoyed reading this book. A well-written book that focuses on the 3 generations of the Cleary family. Meggie especially. 
It reminded me a lot of a Virginia Andrews book. The difference is that McCullough compiled 5 of Andrews' books into one volume. They're also not as scandalous. Although, I think a lot of people would have something to say about Meggie and Ralph's relationship.
It was an easy read. I think this is the first time I have finished a 600 page book in 10 days.
I enjoyed the first half of the book more since the 2nd half focused mostly on other characters and I wasn't as interested in them as I was in Meggie and Ralph. It was also a bit jarring how fast the characters aged. On one page they were 4, 2 pages later they were 11, and a few later they were 18 and ready to leave the house.
It still deserves 4 stars and it's a book that I will think fondly back on.
