I've seen good reviews of this series from my favorite bloggers saying this is a good high school story. I found this pretty good but there were a few things that I didn't quite like.

Rose Zarelli is our protagonist. Her dad died from a war in Iraq and she's been trying to deal with her problems just as she became a high school freshman. From the synopsis, you can see how her life sucks in a bunch of ways. Her dad died, her mom closed off, her brother abandoned her. Then, she crushed on this guy named Jamie Forta, which pissed off this cheerleader. Her friend changed and wants to be a shallow cheerleader and have sex with some jerk. Basically, her life sucks pretty bad.

Bullying is something kids deal with everyday. Even a kindergartner gets bullied on the playground. I find that Rozett writes the situations pretty well. While not everyone may be extremely bullied like she was, everyone can relate to what happened to Rose one way or another. The distinct teenage voice helps the writing bring Rose Zarelli to life.

I did like those parts but there were a few things I didn't like. I feel like Rose could've tried harder in some of the situations and it might have turned out better. I was also annoyed when Jamie Forta showed up and that's all she could think about. That's just some stuff I tolerated.

Confessions of an Angry Girl is a great contemporary I enjoyed. I will get on the sequel soon and see how Rose would deal with being a sophomore.

Confessions of an Angry Girl is the first novel written by Louise Rozett. She was known for her playwright as well as recovering performances. Actually this book is the first one in a series called Confessions. The second book in the series has just been released last month.

 Rose Zarelli is about to start high school after her father’s recent death. In addition to that, her best friend behaves like a complete stranger: she is kind of obsessed with being popular, become a cheerleader, have a boyfriend and have sex. Rose has never been that kind of girl; moreover she finds her friend’s attitude annoying. In addition to that, the only boy she has had a crush on, Jamie, starts showing a bit of interest in her. This, of course, excites Rose. Nonetheless, Jamie has a girlfriend; he is dating the evil Regina. Therefore, there are quite several things that make Rose angry.

 Confessions of an Angry Girl was a really good, funny book. In my personal opinion, the main reason why I really enjoyed this book was because I liked the Rose character a lot. I believe she was an authentic, sarcastic character. I liked her strong will, how, despite her friend’s comments, she is decided not to change her personality and her opinions on popularity. Also her loyalty to her best friend is admirable, especially when her friend is behaving in such a bitchy way.
However, as much as I liked Rose, I found Jamie a bit crazy and unpredictable. Probably I could not understand him as much since the book was written on Rose’s point of view.
The book is full of the typical YA, contemporary topics, for example drinking, partying, etc., nevertheless I was expecting them.
It wasn’t a fantastic unique book, although I was really in the mood for a contemporary and fun book, hence I enjoyed it a lot.

 In conclusion, this book was a fantastic contemporary book. I was not expecting to like it as much as I did, Moreover, I definitely recommend it to whoever likes contemporary cause they would love it.

This book started off kinda corny and unoriginal, but it was pretty okay by the end. Nothing special, nothing too awful. But if you have other books you want to read first, put this one aside! Good, quick read if you're bored and having nothing else to read.
