Sweet Temptation

Cora Reilly2020
An Arranged Marriage Standalone Mafia Romance. The first time Cassio meets his fiancée, she calls him "sir." After losing his wife, Cassio is left to take care of two small children while trying to establish his rule over Philadelphia. Now he needs a mother for his children and someone who can warm his bed at night. But in a world as traditional as his, choosing your wife is duty not pleasure.Rules have to be followed, traditions heeded. That's how he ends up with a woman-a girl-barely of age. She may not be what he and his children need, but she's lovely and a sweet temptation he can't resist. Giulia has always known she'll marry the man her father chose for her, but she never expects to be given to someone so much older. Suddenly she's supposed to be a mother to two small children when she hasn't even held a baby before.Giulia quickly realizes that Cassio isn't interested in a relationship on equal footing. Her mother has warned her that men of power, like Cassio, don't tolerate insolence. Tired of being treated as a nanny, Giulia decides to fight for her version of a happy family.

i love difs i swear to lord this was so soft for a mafia book i loved it - "Tradition binds us, Giulia. Not just you, but also me." I'd sworn to protect her, like a husband was supposed to protect his wife, and I would do my best to do a better job this time.” - “Nothing in this world would make me give up Giulia now that I had her. Maybe she wasn't the mother my children needed, but fuck, she was what I craved.” - “That was all I could do, and I would try, because Simona, Daniele, and Loulou, and maybe even Cassio needed me.” - "Stay." "Why?" "Because I tell you to." "Give me another reason." "Because I want you close. Because I liked falling asleep with your strawberry scent at night." “ Strawberry scent?" "Like a goddamn strawberry field. I don't even like strawberries “ - “Losing Giulia - I wouldn't get over it. We hadn't been together long, but in the weeks of our marriage, she'd brightened my days more than I thought possible.” - "I can't lose you." "You won't. Not if you keep working on your trust issues, if you keep fighting for us, because I sure as hell am ready to go into war for this marriage and our children. "What did you say?""That I'm ready to fight for us." "No," "You said our children." "I know they are yours... not mine, not really, but it kind of hurts if you say they are your children as if I don't care for them—" "I don't deserve you, Giulia, but my kids... our kids do." - "Sunflower earrings?" “I'd originally bought her elegant creoles, jewelry I would have chosen-nothing Giulia would have liked. Three days ago, I changed my mind and searched the internet for sunflower earrings. Most of them had been horrid, bright yellow atrocities. Then I stumbled upon Giulia's present on the website of a goldsmith. The sunflowers were elegant, small, and completely made from gold. They were elegant yet quirky. They were Giulia.” "They are so beautiful," "I thought you hated when I wear sunflowers." "You love them." - "They're my kids, Giulia." "No," "They are our kids, Cassio. I told you before and I'll tell you again. I love all three of you." "What?" "You heard me. They aren't just your kids. They are mine too. You can't call them yours when you see fit. They are always ours, yours and mine. Maybe not by blood, but I'd bleed for them all the same. So don't talk to me like these two kids don't mean anything to me when they mean everything. Just like their stubborn, idiotic father." "I love you too." "What... you do?" "You really have to ask?" "Say it." "I love you." "Again." "I love you." "I love you too." - "If anyone can shut up my nagging voice, then it's you. You've breathed new life into me." (…) "Into everything. I was dead inside, going through the motions of every day, living for work, for building a future for my kids. While doing that I forgot about the present, about living. You showed me how important it is to live in the moment, to experience my children's life and not just plan for their future." - “Inner peace had found me when Giulia stepped into my life.” - “That word wasn't a casual endearment born out of habit coming from Giulia's lips. Every time she said it, it held meaning. Giulia encompassed that word "love," that feeling, in every action, every smile, every fiber of her being.” - "You brought chaos into my life." "You like my kind of chaos." "I do. More than anything else, I love our life. It's perfect in my eyes. "We made it that way. We work every day so it stays that way. Happiness is a choice." - “Giulia still painted almost every day and even took courses to improve her craft. In one of them, the teacher had asked them to create a painting that expressed their vision of happiness. Giulia had painted our children, Loulou, and me taking a stroll on the beach. It was as easy as that. Whenever I looked at the photo of Giulia and our little family that I carried in my wallet, one overwhelming feeling filled me: happiness.”

“𝑅𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑖 𝑘𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑠ℎ𝑒’𝑑 𝑏𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑒.“ a 4 ⭐️ for this book. a mafia romance? age gap? single dad? marriage of convenience? OH GOD IM IN. okay so this book for it’s not focus on actions but more to family and romance. basically it’s kinda light mafia romance yet very spicy. you know what i mean. like i said it’s a age gap and marriage of convenience. so Giulia is 18 years old and she was forced to marry with a 30 years old man, Cassio. their relationship really surprised me but in a good way because i loved how they learn how to deal with everything just to make them have a happy family. also loved their banter, it was simply amazing that their relationship is just so light. i really love Giulia’s character so much she was so perfect like a very happy go lucky person. Cassio is very protective. ofc he is. he really do loves his children and i loved that about him. i would say he is likeable. the way he’s guiding Giulia he’s just so caring. for the plot, i do enjoyed the story and how it goes. but it could be more short actually bcs it’s kinda dragged too long. but overall it’s perfect. i’m not gonna say it’s heartbreaking but there’s some parts that quite sad and i wish i could hug Cassio. he is lucky to have Giulia as his wife and a mother to his children. OVERALL, i really enjoyed this and i literally finished this book in less than one day. the way i ditched my current read and read this book it’s just the right thing ever. i do recommend this book to everyone who loves mafia, single dad, marriage of convenience and age gap. go read it to get out of reading slump.

It was a good read to distract me but I don’t think mafia romance is for me, it’s so funny to me. Like I fr laughed out loud when they acted all serious and shit.

Anyways as I said not bad, just not for me :)

Just as i started reading this book I was like "uhmm" and ngl, I was doubting the book but then as I kept reading, everything fitted in and in the end it was perfect. There were so many aw scenes that had me 🥺 I just love how much they love their children. I totally loved that we had 2 povs, we got to see their life and story from Cassio and Giulia's view. Anyway I'm in love with Cassio 😩😩😩

Okay, I've been reading CR's books since last month and this book may be one of my favorites if only I hadn't looked for spoilers. I enjoyed them, though!

5 Stars! Tell me something I don't like when it comes to Cora Reilly books! I love 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 by Cora Reilly. I have read almost all of her books and I'm in love with every single one of them. I love this book so much. Too much, I'm afraid. I love how Giulia stood up and challenge Cassio and I love that they're willing to try on their marriage and her love for Cassio kids is just beautiful. It takes guts to married a man with kids and to raise his kids like her owns. “You brought chaos into my life.” “You like my kind of chaos.” Highly Recommended :)

4/5 stars Yes. Giulia didn’t just get walked on the whole time. I love how she was with the kids. She had lots of patience and treated them like her own. On the wedding night Cassio had patience and didn’t like fully force himself on to Giulia. The age-gap MmmmMMmM. 2 books in a row with an age-gap and I’m not complaining. The whole what happened with Gaia ummm what😃 Anyways idk but something just holding me back from giving it 5 stars.

I definitely didn’t expect this book to be a mafia romance. I got the audiobook on kobo and didn’t even read the summary so I was expecting a office romance. So at first I was genuinely confused with how the story was being told. Quickly I realized what it was and got into the story. Forced marriage and age gap are trope that I don’t mind at all and enjoy reading. But what I don’t enjoy is when the female main character is always so oblivious of life and her body/sexuality. I understand the “need” for Giulia to be innocent but considering her life, I highly doubt she would react the way she did the first time they got together intimately… and if you read this book, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Other than that, the story was interesting and it had a nice pace. Of course, time was going by quickly and there was a few skips in the plot but it all made sense and I appreciated it. The spice was nice, but if you aren’t used to it, maybe listening to the audiobook isn’t a great option. I do however enjoyed how Giulia grew as a woman, even though it was mainly focused on her growth as a wife and mother. And I also enjoyed Cassio’s development. But this isn’t a very dense story and always focused on plot. Solid 3.5 stars!

** spoiler alert ** emm,, sure :D first of all their age gap was very uncomfortable for especially when he called her his “young wife”. but i wont complain about that because i knew about the age gap so i knew what i was signing up for. HOWEVER! INCEST? WHAT? the incest was so weird i was so shocked to read it. other then that good book but nothing really mafia-esk. very much, trauma bonding between dad and son and just gulia trying to become a mom for 275 pages :)

As my first mafia romance read I am pleasantly surprised, I loved it. I will say I was expecting more inside looks into the actual mafia & what happens. I thought bc it was mafia related it would be dark & brutal but nope! This book strictly focused on the relationship between Cassio & Guilia. Boy we’re they steamy together omg Fanny flutters x100000. I really really loved it, the fact that it was an arranged marriage was interesting enough I was hooked once I started. If you wanna dip your feet into mafia romance I think this would be a good start.
